Root I'm new to rooting, help?

Alright, So I just currently Rooted my LG Esteem.
The SW Version is L MS910ZVB

Anyways, I have a couple questions. Being new to this whole rooting thing, I was just wondering as to what I can do with my phone now being rooted?
I hear all this talk about ROM's and Flashing and what not, but I don't understand it to be quite honest.

So, can someone please break this whole rooting down into simpler terms. I understand that you can download ROM's and what not, but, what exactly do they do? Should I do anything before downloading ROM's? And, most of all, where can I find ROM's, if any are available.

Rooting is totally worth it. You can tether( Give Wi-Fi to devices), you can flash themes, increase overall performance, etc. Totally worth it :)

just a reminder before u attempt on installing a rom or theme or kernel please please make a back up of ur current rom thx!!!! Also nice throw down JETMAKERO
 
So, is it generally recommended to 'downgrade' to ZVB before doing any rooting or ROM flashing? New gf has this phone, and I rooted my R910 with the Basix ROM on here and love it, and want to help her get her phone working the way it's supposed to.


FWIW, I think the biggest issue is the rebooting. Do we need to flash a new ROM to it to fix that, or will simply rooting and removing some of the bloatware fix that problem?

nah man your best option is to upgrade to ZVD, root then be apart of the new crowd :D just put out a rom last night and im working on perfecting the ics hybrid theme soon

Really, so ZVD fixes the rebooting? Is it possible to upgrade to ZVD, then root and just remove some of the boatware? That would honestly be plenty for her i think.

yes u can upgrade and root and theres a rom for zvd created by ldrifta
