I want to root my htc Thunderbolt but dont know the steps i am on the newest version and i need help

did you read the thread? you have to downgrade to the .5 firmware THEN you can use that method

Sure thing. As it stands right now, you can't root your phone using Revolutionary. That last update blocked the ability to do it. There is, however, a workaround. You'll have to follow the instructions in this post (<-- click) first, then run Revolutionary.

Scotty85 rooted a thunderbolt using that method and created step by step instructions here.

Follow Soctty85's post EXACTLY and you'll be able to root without loosing any data.
