im not getting the usb connected sign

I have had my LG Ally for about two weeks now and I want to put music on it but when I plug it into the computer with the USB cable I'm not getting anything that says that its connected. Any ideas?
 
Welcome to the Android Forums!

Plug your USB cable into a different USB port and try again. If that doesn't work, try power cycling the phone. As a last ditch, I'd try uninstalling the driver software, rebooting the PC, and then re-installing the driver software.
