Im officially Swyped out

Is there any way to get double tapping a word to bring up other word choices while the phone is held up right? Double tapping a word to edit it only works with the phone on its side for me... Anyone else?

I just downloaded it yesterday and have to say its pretty dam cool. Its gonna take a little while to get the hang of but its a lot easier than i thought it would be.

Swype is an awesome app. My only gripe with it is using it in landscape mode, I don't like the spacebar being off to the right like that.

I've never used it in landscape mode. Well maybe once :D

However, I never use the space bar it puts them in for me automatically

Once you get used to it, it really is a gem. I've never been able to roll off texts this quick. I've been using it maybe 6 weeks or so.

Swype is one app that should be standard on all Android phones. It absolutely the best app out there, bar none.

Well Evil Sports, you are the one that broke the camels back. Because of this post I finally installed swype. I already love it and just had to thank you. Besides, I just wanted an excuse to write something from my phone

Used it for a week and I have mixed feelings about it. If I could add to the dictionary, etc. I would be all over it...

You can! Just type (tap) the word and hit space bar. It's added to your dictionary.

Weird, It seemed like I had to correct words all the time. Maybe I'll give it another shot and see how it is.

Pressing the spacebar after you've entered the word is the key. That's what actually adds the word to your dictionary.

I wish there were other languages available for swype... like Hungarian, or German....:)

Other than that, it is the best Android app.
Peter

I've been using it since it was "released". Heck I'm using it right now. Love swype

The best part...

I never have to turn my phone into landscape, which I think makes typing suck since it's such a small display. I can type just as fast, with one finger/thumb, mind you, without having to turn it.

Never using any other soft keyboard again <3

I'm getting a replacement phone today and I wanted to try out swype on my old phone before I dl it on my new one. It seems all the links have been removed from the swype thread. I don't want to get anyone on trouble so If you could just send me to a website to dl it thats would be cool

I had reservations about how useful it would be, but after reading all these positive comments, I installed it last night. To say that I'm impressed would be an understatement. I love it. Best app yet.

Click on the link below. Make sure that you have downloaded "Barcode Scanner" from the Marketplace. Use that app to open the link and then click through to get to the file. I know that seems like a lot but it keeps you from having to type in long addresses and you can download and install it directly from your phone.

I know I'm being immature, but, watching my friends with iphones search their app store and coming up short made me happy. Their silence was my victory song.

Man, I'm a real nerd sometimes.

Well, it's not in our app store either but at least we can get apps that aren't in the official Marketplace. :)

Last time I heard, Swype wants to make their keyboard something that is standard on a phone such as what they did with the Omnia II. Good strategy but a lot of folks will be more than happy to fork out some money for that keyboard if they do decide to make it freely available in the android marketplace or any other for that matter. Hopefully the beta version that was released for Android signified a move in that direction.

I love seeing the DROID outdo the iPhone. Speaking of Apple. Who wants to buy a computer that is less useful than a laptop but cost about as much as one? All the people that bought an iPad. :p

I just refuse to support a company that pumps out as much crap as Apple, not to mention they are proprietary. I believe I am ranting now. :)

you don't even need the barcode scanner app, at the top of the page in your link (on page 8) there is a link for the apk. I just clicked on it, downloaded and installed.

Double tapping on the word doesn't work for me in Portrait Mode either but I have never double tapped a word anyway. I just hit the Swype key after typing a word if it's the wrong one.

Good find. I like having the barcode in posts because I usually access this forum from my laptop, but the direct link is easier for many.

Thanks zebug for the post pointing out the link. I felt lazy and did not want to download the bar code scanner just to get swype.

But the barcode scanner rocks. Play with it for a bit and you will be hooked. I scanned everything in sight when I first got it. It's like another toy. :)

Does anyone know where i can get Swype for a Moto Devour, been looking for a couple days, and haven't found it. I have it on my Eris, and is the best app by far.
