So Im selling my current phone and i needed a temp phone for a couple months until my next upgrade, I bought a Droid, I had one along time ago back when it was the eris or it, but now im going to use it a couple months I was wondering your best advice on keeping it as a DD, Im thinking:

-Root and Re-Rom
-Underclock / Overclock

Is this a good idea? and if so what configuration would you recommend for the smoothest performance, no gaming or anything like that, mainly google music app. Thanks very much!!

I would say sick to 2.2. my old Droid got very laggy with 2.3 and it's not a real major loss to stay on 2.2

Kool Kat has the right of it. First of all, with GB it ate almost all of you system ROM space, and then it eats a good bit of RAM as well. If you plan on doing nothing but calls, GB may work for you, but if you'd like reliability and responsiveness, sick with FroYo-based ROMs.

I still have my og DROID, although I'm now on a BIONIC. Without actually connecting it to service or wifi, the battery lasts for 7+ days on no use lol...
