I'm really mad. Keep getting late text

I'm a big time texter. 1 out of every 13 texts i get comes about 5-10 min late. It really pisses me off. It really makes my friends wonder but they are cool with it but i still feel bad. This is a huge problem. I always have at least 3 bars at my house which is where i am when i text.

What is wrong? I'm so mad it keeps happening

update your PRL and profile (first step in any service problem really). Are you using handcent, chomp, or stock messaging app?

The more details people give in their initial question post, the quicker it can be answered by people that know the answer :)

I have this same problem! I get late text between 3-15 minutes late, or sometimes not till I turn my phone on from sleep mode and unlock the unlock screen. And im using the HTC messaging app that came with the phone.

It happens to me too! I use the stock messaging app. It's annoying bc sometimes i get really important txts, and well....I see it when i wake my phone up :(

I don't think the problem is getting the texts late, I think the phone gets the texts on time but isn't giving the notification (ringing) on time. This problem seems to only occur when the phone is asleep and waking the phone up triggers the ringer. (I think its very similar to the phone call ringer delay problem, where everything happens in stages- phone lights up, then vibrates, then rings) I've noticed that sometimes I'll see my notification light blinking or my phone will vibrate because I got a text but it doesn't play the ringtone until I unlock my phone. If you aren't staring at the phone to see the light or don't feel the vibrate (or have vibrate set) then you wouldn't know you got the text until it eventually rings or you unlock the phone to trigger the ringer.

When I was experiencing signal issues in my home I had an extreme delay in receiving txt msgs but now that I have my Airave.. I'm back to normal again :)

I got my first delayed txt the other day. Even ones I sent out were delayed for some reason. I've heard of other people experiencing this, but this is the first it has happend to me since I've had my phone (january). I'm not a huge texter but had accumulated quite a few txts in my inbox. Once I deleted all of those and restarted my phone, everything seems to be working fine. Maybe if you clean out your inbox it will help solve the problem.

yeah, large text threads cause lots of problems like lag, fill up memory, and take forever to delete. Just a little tip for anyone who allows threads to get large because you like to save them, there's a great app called SMS Backup that saves texts to your gmail account so you can delete them from the phone.

1. Update your PRL
2. Delete all of your current threads in your text messaging application
3. reboot your phone periodically
4. (Just a tip) - I like the stock app. Seems to be less laggy than aftermarket apps for texting.

My g.f.'s Hero wasn't receiving texts frequently and it was a real pain. Sprint rep at the local retail store suggested a task manager. I recently found Apollo Task Killer on the market, it automatically kills selected tasks when your screen turns off at a preset interval that you choose. It makes the phone always perform well and my g.f. hasn't had any problems since I installed it. I've used the other major task killers, but the automation Apollo offers trumps them by far. Give it a go.
