Greetings all, my name is Jay and I just joined this forum. I feel GREAT!! and need to tell somebody as my wife is out of town on a business trip. After one solid year of living H*ll with my Captivate, I think I've finally solved all of my issues with the phone (the auto power downs, the freezes, the lackluster battery life, the lousy camera, the crappy signal strength, the lack of volume and so on). In a both delicate and dangerous procedure I've fixed all of this! Here's what I did:
1. I took the top of the phone (where it says AT&T) in my left hand.
2. I took the bottom of the phone (where it says Samsung) in my right hand and pressed both thumbs against the back of the phone.
3. Next, I applied continuous pressure to both hands (with opposing pressure to the thumbs) until I heard the Gorilla Glass begin to crackle and the Captivate crushed in my hands!!! No more unrequested power downs!!!
No, I haven't been drinking, I'm just really happy wo-hoo! (I do have a shard of glass stuck in my left thumb - got to work on that this evening).
I've already ordered another Motorola Z-9 (the wonderful little dumb phone I lost prior to acquiring the Captivate). I'll have it in a week or so and will once again be able to place cell phone calls like a pro!
