Root I'm still leaking...

...Internal memory space that is.

I'm down to 18mb and heading inevitably to a "low on space" warning. I've got 1gb of app2sd space and when it happened last week I had to wipe to clear it.

Is there any way I can liberate my internal memory without resorting to wiping?

[solved]: see post no. 6

So how many apps do you have?

How much of ext is used?

You moved dalvik back to ext after wipe?

What are your biggest 5 apps and what size?

Have you tried accleaner to maintain caches?

-56 Apps

-100mb of ext used out of 1gb

-I didn't do anything to dalvik

- Talking Tom, 18.17mb
Ninjump, 14.61
HAWX, 11.62
Documents To Go, 9.91
Map, 9.38

- I'll run accleaner now... edit: it appears to have freed up just 8mb. So I'm on a whopping 26mb free now.

Taken from SUroot's a2sd guide,

I have got Dark Tremor a2sd and my internal memory is smaller than expected

Dark Tremors latest a2sd script does not move Dalvik cache by default as before. You need to download "terminal Emulator" from the market and run it.

Type "su" and press enter
Type "a2sd cachesd" and press enter.

The desire will reboot and you will see a big chunk of additional free space on your internal memory.

just do that and you should free up some memory space.

^^^That worked like a charm. It freed up a ton of memory space. Thanks a lot, rtb.

One more thing; will I need to do that every time I run low?

i tried that and it says "a2sd: Not found"

Im not being funny but with any app2sd rom you will always run in to this problem, no matter how big the ext partition is, having a 1gb ext partition is just a waste as the internal storage will become full long before you use up the ext space.
The only sure fire way to get around it is by using data2ext rom..

If you are S-Off you can modify your memory partitions to free more space for /data by shrinking /system. Unless you want to run and HD ROM that is - those need the full 250 MB /system.

Totally agreed 512mb ext partition is more than suffice enough. How is data2ext these days? Still got issues??

Probably, but then we are talking about a situation where you have 200+ apps in your phone.

Look below - Accleaner application says I have 111 apps on my phone and still 84MB internal storage available. My ext partition is 700MB, of which 427MB is free.

Perhaps this sounds a bit weird. But some apps, especially a lot of large ones do not properly move to the EXT partition. However, if you move them to the SD card as Froyo's Apps2SD would do, it suddenly frees up a lot of space. I've found this to be the case with Gameloft apps, I've moved them all to SD (not EXT) and voila.

I have about 100-150 apps installed and have 71 MB of internal memory left, plus about 100/1000 MB on EXT. I've watched the space on android.secure on the generic SD card and it has a lot of data on it.

So just move any apps that won

I have no idea why it does that for some people. I move an app to sd card, I save no space. I move it back, nothing changes.

Ive plenty of space anyway. I have a 1024MB ext and 298MB /data.

Thing is though, with a2sd, the entire app is moved to sd-ext/data/app and only the app cache is left. When using froyo to SD, only part of the app is being moved and part of it remains.

Problem with using a bastardised solution like No_u, is that you are letting a2sd move all of the app to ext, then using froyo move to SD to then move part of the app off ext and onto SD.

Unlike in froyo where you have the app split between NAND and SD, now its split between EXT and SD which must be worse.

Only thing I can image for you is that maybe GB handles move to SD slightly differently and moves some cache too? Not sure there.

Also not sure what you mean by "wont move to ext properly". Whats that mean?

The fact that it takes up 10 MB on my internal memory in the screen. When I move it to SD with the button, it doesn't.

As for "being worse", everything runs fine and works as it should. I have no problems with the app not working or anything :P. Yes I have cache2sd on.

I'm not arguing. It is a bad solution. It's great that its currently working for you.

idk but i am leaking too somehow so i want to try that :) so this only work on the darktremor
No, there are other ways, so you need to check each ROM individually.
Gingervillain uses the (optional) DT script.
