Root I'm stuck (Leak v.3 & Mac)

Cnilles

Newbie
OK, I've read everything about 'leakers root' method on both here and the xda site. I've now confused myself. I'm running a mac and have v.3 of the leak. Here's what I have done so far.

-Installed SDK tools and put them into the PATH
-Installed Eclipse
-Installed ADT

I got those steps from this video: Eclipse and the Android SDK install on Mac - ?? - ???? - ????

I haven't installed SDK packages (I don;t even know if I have to)

I have also downloaded the Hack-v4 and the Evil Eris ROM.

Now I'm totally stuck. :( I'm clueless as to what to do. Can anyone running a mac fill in a gap or two?

Thanks for your help! I really hope I can root this thing!

I didn't install Ecliplse or ADT, but this is how I rooted:

1. Put your android-sdk-mac_86 folder on your desktop.
2. Make sure you unzip the hackv4.zip and put each item (not the folder) into the "tools" folder of your android sdk.
3. Open up terminal
4. Type cd desktop
5. Type cd android-sdk-mac_86
6. Type tools
7. Type sh runinlinux.sh
8. The process will commence, your phone may boot into normal mode, then into recovery mode. Once you boot into recovery mode, you have root!
9. Make sure the EvilEris.zip is already on the root of your SD card.
10. Go to Wipe, and do a factory reset and a dalvik cache wipe.
11. Go to flash zip from SD card, flash the EvilEris.zip and reboot.
12. The first boot will take long, wait.
13. You know have a rooted Droid Eris with Evil Eris.

I get:
sh: runinlinux.sh: No such file or directory

Bummer! However, in the tools folder, there is a runinlinuxadb.sh file and a runinlinuxfromtools.sh file. should I try one of those?

Thanks for your patients. I'm being a total turd I know...

I think the hackv4.zip had different files than the one I was using. I was using the first hack.zip. Anyways congratulations.

Dude. Adrian. It worked. I'm rooted! Thank you so much for your help!!

I did the 'cd' then drag the whole tools folder trick and ran the runinlinuxfromtools.sh file. Everything was smooth sailing from there!
