Root I'm thinking of rooting my Droid X

I'm perfectly happy running stock with launcher pro, but i want to root my phone and see what makes it so much better. Are their any downsides to rooting? What rom should I install if any?

All rooting does is allow the user access to certain areas of the device that are locked out by the manufacturer, nothing is removed or left without function.

Deeper changes are sometimes made when installing some custom ROMs; you'll need to read the developer's notes about their individual ROMs, and in here, obviously, users who have experience with custom ROMs.

before you even install any rom..backup your phone..so if you are not happy you can go back to your normal phone looking
 
it it necessary to buy titanium backup pro? or will free work? it keeps declining my card for some reason so just wondering.

I am somewhat computer savvy but link after link after link, I have 20 pages of links open. Its all so confusing. Is there an easy step by step action needed to root the droid.

you can but you need the titanium pro =) to backup program...but its better if you Droid X recovery much better to do backup copies!! =)
 
OK, typing in Kousch’s DroidX Bootstrap didn't bring up anything. Typing in DroidX recovery brought up 13 apps, neither say anyhting about Kousch though. The top item is Droid X Recovery Bootstrap for $2 by ClockworkMod.

Anybody know how I can get the Kousch version?
