Help Imei # unkown NEED HELP

my samsung s3 does not have any service and does not have an imei number recognized in the settings>about phone>status. i have also tried calling *#06# to see if it can recognize the IMEI but it comes up with Null / Null. carrier is not found but the sim card works in other phones and the phone is rooted. im on version 4.1.2 due to the fact that i live in Adelaide and optus (my provider) has not yet allowed owners of a samsung s3 gt-i9305 to update to kitkat.

How do i get my phone to recognize its IMEI number and allow the sim card to work so it can get service???????

I understand each step but due to the use of my s3, step two can not be followed. i enter *#7284# and it goes to a screen titled PhoneUtil then has two options under two titles....

UART
- MODEM
- PDA

USB
- MODEM
- PDA

all i need help with now is step two. can anyone please help me as quickly as posible?...

Sounds like rooting has wiped your EFS folder which contains your IMEI.

I don't know about your version of the S3; but when I did it to mine I was able to flash the original stock ROM from Samobile and that restored it.

I would suggest also; if you get your IMEI back you get a tool like Hckt tool from the play store and back up your EFS folder and store it on your PC.

Odin back to stock is your best bet. Make sure the firmware is for the i9305 :thumbup:

could someone please link me to the stock rom. I live in Australia and i am with Optus. i can not find it on the sammobile website. hopefully this works. if not i will have to spend $45 just to get someone else to do it.

Tbh i think you should ask in the gt-i9305 forum mate. Theyll know better than us.
