Help Importance of moving apps to SD card

Why is it important to move your downloaded apps to your sd card? Right now I've like 20 downloaded apps and none of them are on my SD card. Should I? What're the benefits? Why is it significant?

When I had an Incredible I never bothered to move anything to SD, my internal phone storage was plenty big. With the Optimus V, I move everything i can. Am now considering rooting so I can move more.

Moving apps will be a benefit, cause I'v noticed, when you do, that the app sizes get smaller. Why? Maybe they are compressed, I'm not entirely sure. But this size reduction never really affected the performance of these apps

From one Optimus V owner to the other, you only get roughly 178MB of app memory in the internal memory. Google maps takes up 10.25MB. Voice search 4.42MB. the market 3.54MB. Bloatware(carrier installed apps that you can't remove unless rooted)a little over 10MB. I have Gmail-that,s 4.47MB,and amazon appstore 2.65MB,and Extended controls 2.74MB as well as the theme pack for it 3.55MB,and Launcher pro 3.11MB,and TV.com 2.71MB, and Juice Defender 2.13MB, and speed channel 1.5 etc. etc. etc...as you can see you can eat up your available internal memory real Quick. The advantage of moving apps to the SDcard can be easily seen. there are several apps that will allow you to move apps to the SDcard on the market. I personaly like App 2 SD as it can be moved to the SDcard as well
