According to this article, it looks like if you use Google wallet, resetting your phone can adversely affect its usability.

Although the article is mostly about an HTC phone, this issue apparently affects all phones with NFC.

The staff has been discussing just this issue today in order to get this warning out to everyone. What you must do, is reset Google wallet first before you reset the phone and then you'll be fine.
