Help Importing Contacts from another phone?

My wife just got an Optimus V, and I'm trying to get it set up for her. Her old Sprint phone was a HTC Touch Pro running Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, and we ported that phone number to her Optimus. What would be the easiest and best way to import her contacts list (fairly large) from the old phone over to the Optimus?

Might I suggest the following:

1. sync HTC Touch Pro contacts with MS Outlook (I'm guessing using a win phone you use Outlook)
2. export contacts to a .csv file
3. create/login to your gmail account and go to contacts
4. under More Actions tab, click import and select the .csv file

5. in Optimus goto Settings>Accounts & Sync Settings> click Add Account and add above referenced gmail account.

6. say "TA-DA" and smile!

Hope this works the way I remember...

Google Sync would have been far easier than that ^, but I'm guessing the old phone isn't in service now since you already ported the number?

That's correct melim, her old phone is out of service as of this morning, so maybe the method Too Many Secre suggested is the way to go? Any other ideas out there? What about possibly beaming her contact list via Bluetooth to her Optimus? Is that even possible and maybe easier?

I went from a non-smartphone to a droid and did what has been suggested, an export and import into gmail.

Glad you got it sorted. Anything that involves plugging the phone into the 'puter is foreign to me at this point, as the only one I have access to is a dying, 8 yr old POS that isn't getting within 10 feet of my phone...
