Improve your Call Quality

Looks like I got the OP a few extra 'thanks' ;p

I'm going to try it I guess since you can switch it back.

That's a great question... Itworks at hom from my home tower, however, in akron, 30 miles away, it's all for naught. I had to switch back as the dinc did not make calls. it would time out and say the "network is unavailable"

Changing it back to evrc resolved the prob.

I found that the voice sounds fine when I use a headset or bluetooth headset, but it is muffled when I use the phone's earpiece. There must be something wrong with the hardward. Hope NOT!

I am dialing ##778 in the dial pad and nothing happens?? It doesn't show in call log either. What am I doing wrong?

Interesting. I do not have a bluetooth ear piece to test right now, but can anyone else confirm this?
Id rather it be software related so itd be a simple firmware update to fix it. But most of all, I just want the source of the problem found. Then all of us with this issue, can get the problem resolved and be happy with this great device again

Well...two weeks into have the DINC and I've been struggling with the "Underwater" sound too. Saw this thread and gave it a try. No appreciable improvement in sound quality, but it DID eat my battery! I've had the phone on for 6 hours today and am already showing yellow in the battery indicator. Normally I don't get yellow until the evening. That tells me that it's just about doubling the battery drain. I'm headed to Best Buy this evening to exchange for a new one (or return it if they don't have any in stock). I know it's a roll of the dice, but maybe I'll get one without the issues. If not, bye-bye DINC. Such a great device...just not a great PHONE!:(

nope doesnt make a bit of difference for me, either with a BT headset, or wired headset, or speaker phone..this is a bad thing....especially if you use your phone for "phone calls"!

When I dial ##778 and enter "call", I get a popup that says number not recognized and "do you really want to call". I press "call" and nothing happens.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for your help.

Try ##7764726 (##PROGRAM) same password... basically its same thing but i get some prompt with the ##778 before asking for the password and not with ##7764726

If you have some app that intercepts calls, it will do nothing. I have "Call Confirm" and got the same symptoms as you did. After disabling the app, I was able to go through the OP's steps. Sadly, it didn't seem to make any difference for me call quality-wise, so, I switched my settings back

Teerex,
Thanks for the tip.
I had Call Confirm running too. I closed it and was then able to dial the ##7778 number. I made the change but am unsure if it improved anything. I'll have to try a few test calls.
Thanks again,
Hobie.

Thanks. I will post this bug in the developer's thread.

Cant believe all the people having probs with this phone wow i never had a issue. i get over 30 hours with my battery that came with the phone. lol yes i didnt go waste more money on another battery that will do the same thing the stock one does.

One more time: Your phone will NOT work for calls in many areas if you make this change. B standard is far less common and not many network areas have adopted it.

The OP FAILED to post warnings about this in the main post, in spite of information about this. Bad advice unless warning about it.

It's because (I'm guessing) you have Call Confirm installed. Disable it, then re-enable it after you reboot.

I think this change is killing my battery....I used to get 24 hours on a charge ...today I'm down to 55% after being unplugged for 4 hours

I believe that this trick actually helps, but I had to revert back to the original settings because my Verizon network extender would not communicate with my phone when I set it to evrc-b

I live in Phoenix, tried it... and made a few phone calls. The quality seemed much worse with -B engaged. Kinda more 'digital' sounding. However I also work up in the mountains where signal is very poor, so I'll just stick with the original settings. Thanks for the info though. It was worth a try!

dont make the setting change for Roaming if you plan on Being in Canada, Montreal specifically - couldnt understand why I cant make any voice calls until I finally remembered about this change.
Reverting back returned everything to normal...
