Improving performance?

[stanw]

I read somewhere that some people are doing the following to improve performance on their Note3 phones:

- disabling animations
- enabling force gpu rendering

1. What are animations and how do you turn them off?
2. what does force gnu rendering do? where is this option?

Thanks.

The video in this thread shows you some animations taking place. http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-note-3/778237-note-3-lags-sometimes-slow-here-how-fix.html

I haven't done anything with gpu rendering and I'm loving the performance on videos. Maybe that's a gamer thing?
