Help In Call Volume WAY to loud Samsung GS3

Jay2d2

Newbie
Hey everyone..
I am very new to Android coming from an iPhone.

I have the Samsung Galaxy S3 and its great..

One major problem i noticed is the speaker volume.
Im talking about the IN-CALL speaker volume.. when i make or receive a phone call the speaker is WAY WAY to loud.. as in, who ever else is in the room can hear the person im speaking to.. its unacceptable and very annoying ..

Here is the problem.. I am currently rooted and flashed the CM10 rom.. and then tried the AOKP rom.. Both are great.. But to be honest i dont recall when the problem started.
Whether it was from right out of the box or during one of my ROM testings. One thing is forsure, the CM10 and AOKP are both acting the same. (In Call Speaker to loud) ive looked online and found no one with a solution with this device.. PLEASE any advise or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

On the left side of the phone you will find two volume buttons, the top increases the volume while the bottom button will decrease it.

Welcome to the forums!

Thanks for the Welcome.. Looking forward to being on the forum..

I do realize the hard buttons on the side of the phone ;)
During my phone calls im constantly pushing it down lol.

Wondering if anyone else has noticed this problem.. I am in Canada (Telus) using the SGH-1747 version of the Galaxy 3 (Dual-Core).

I know the main concern with phones and devices is usually volume being to low.. I seem to be having the opposite problem lol

I would imagine that would be the root..but I'm shocked there is no fix or concluding answers on other forums..
Does anyone else have this problem?

I guess i am crazy lol
no else seems to be responding with the same issue..

Its so intense , that i may have to revert back to factory settings and return the phone

is speaker on? cant remember in ics but in my jellybean theres a cog to click when you press up/down with extra settings i also thing theres some settings in settings/sounds..

"Glad" someone else is having this problem. I am rooted as well and went from CM10 to Liquidsmooth and am STILL having the volume issue. It is insane how loud it is...practically sounds like the call is on speakerphone. I have scoured other forums only to find no answer to this issue. As much as it sucks I'm contemplating going back to crappy stock Touchwiz to see if the issue persists.

I have tried all kinds of settings.. every setting imaginable that has to do with sound.. The only solution that seems to make the volume lower but not low enough is to hit the UP volume first. Then hit the DOWN volume..

I feel your pain man..
Like i said the only thing that works for me is to hit the UP volume and then hit the DOWN volume. (hard keys on the side of the phone)
Try that and let me know how the volume is..

its not in driving mode is it? i think that forces speaker on?

I don't think so. It's not as loud as the speaker mode per se, but if I have someone a few feet away while I'm on a call, it's so loud that they can definitely hear parts of the conversation. It's as if your phone volume is boosted to the highest level and hitting the rocker buttons on the side don't make any adjustment. I have to hold the phone a few inches from me ear so I don't go deaf.

From the dialer screen hit the menu button and select Settings. Make sure Use extra vol. for calls is unchecked.

Not seeing that option. Now I'm very new to Android..recently made the conversion from Apple..but I am running Liquidsmooth rom, which is basically running the stock version of Android (like on a Nexus) and not the Touchwiz version of JB. When I go to Dialer settings, I see:

Phone ringtone
Vibrate when ringing
Keep prox sensor on
Vib on answer

etc.

Yea you wont have any of the touchwiz options because you are not on a samsung based ROM anymore. I really think its a CM10 problem, the only way to fix would be updating to the newest CM or going to a samsung based ROM

I did infact go back to the original ROM (Touchwiz) and it did fix the problem..
So it must be a CM10 issue since that was the first ROM i tried and noticed the sound increase.

Hi,

I am having the same problem. It was fine when i first got the phone but now it is impossible to have a private conversation as everyone in the room can hear...

Help

the only fix i have found so far is either playing with volume keys while on a call..
Turning the volume up then down does lower the volume a little..

Like i said before going back to stock ROM did fix the volume issue

Hi there, this is the exact fix for me. Because during my calls I had this extra button which seemed to be always on even when switched off. It seemed in-active but actually the sound was the same as when being active. Once I switched it off as an option from the below settings, it all went good.

A small tutorial:

1) Go to dialer/Keypad -> Menu button -> call settings -> Use extra vol. for calls (uncheck)

2) Go to dialer/Keypad -> Menu button -> call settings -> in-call sound EQ settings -> In-call sound EQ -> Choose an option that suits you.

In option 2 if you connect your earphones you can further fix the correct sound to your left or right ear sensitivity.

I hope this helps. If it does press the thanks button.

It is loud but i dont feel like its preventing me from having certain conversations, even if the phone was silent people in the room will still hear "me" talking so if im having a "private" conversation I usually leave the room

Thanks for your tips but unfortunately those settings dont exist on any of the roms ive used (CM10,AOKP, BAKED)

What OS are you running?

The button for extra volume is unchecked. When i am on a call and press the volume key down it doesnt go down completely like any other phone would so i dont know what else to try.
