I bought that a while back for my Desire HD and it's served me well for nearly 2 years. It charges both that and my One X with 1A (the equivalent of AC charging) so I'd presume it would do the same for the N4 too (I've not had a chance to try yet though).

I have one of these in my car, that way it doesn't matter what phone I have, iPhone or Android, all I need to do is swap out the cable. Its also super compact and discrete.

I'm after a new car charger, too as the one I have doesn't do the job because the N4 needs a higher power charger than normal.

There was a thread where people had posted the Amps + Volts and stuff that were required but I can't find it anywhere!

Would anyone happen to remember the details ..?

The wall charger of the N4 has an 1.2A amperage USB output, so a car charger's USB output should have the same or more amperage

If I had to buy a car charger for the N4 I would choose the HTC C300.
The charger supplies 2A amperage shared to two USB outputs, so if using only one of the outputs it can supply 2A amperage.

But the most important feature is the charger's ability to charge Android phones and tablets in 'Charging AC' mode, meaning the N4 would be charged rapidly with its highest possible amperage.

This feature is a rare find in generic 2A car charger. You'd find out about only if you have the chance to try it ... after you've bought it.

HTC, like other phone producers, follows the recommendation of USB standards for USB chargers ... they jump the data pins of their chargers for to bring the phone in 'AC charging' mode.

I was having trouble finding (a cheap) charger that did more than 1A.

Just had a look at the HTC one you suggest - big more than I'd normally pay but I guess if it's as good as you say ..

If you mean that coiled cable: Yes, it's a charge-only cable without data wires.
HTC jumped its data pins on its microUSB connector too.

You've to see the positive you can use the car charger with every standard microUSB data cable ... and you can use the charge-only cable with every generic car charger.
If the generic charger has enough output amperage it'll charge a phone or tablet in 'charging AC' mode, means rapid with high amperage.

I use the HTC car charger C200 (1A output) for my HTC phones and use charger and cable in this ways.
