In my day ...

My sisters first truck, and my father's old Saturn used to have them :)

My wife's jeep has them but they don't open. I guess they are to add a look more than a function. In function, I liked the wing windows for their added air circulation in the cab without the noise and buffeting of the wind in the regular window.

Speaking of windows, are hand signals for turning and stopping still allowed?

Did anyone own a vehicle that you turned the car on via a key and then started the engine with a push button that was usually foot activated?

How about adjusting the timing with the distributor or adding electrolyte to your battery?

Adding water directly to a hot radiator was always an adventure.

Yes, had a 53 Chevy 1 ton loggers truck with a 9 foot bed. That one could use any Chevy key from the 50's or 60's and the starter button was next to throttle (gas peddle) but wouldn't function unless the clutch was pushed to the floor. (Safety switch was hit by the clutch arm)

Also remember setting/adjusting the "dwell" when changing the points.

When I first started driving gas was 30.9 cents per gallon and often could be had for less. When I was a sophomore we had a gas war and the prices dropped into the high teens. I think the cheapest I ever bought was 17.9 cents per gallon... regular gas. There were two grades of gas... regular and ethyl. Regular was the cheaper of the two.
