Help Inadvertently upgraded from 3.2 to 4.0; can I revert back to 3.2?

I have an Acer Iconia Tab A500 that came with Android 3.x installed; most recently (after system updates over the last 9 or so months), it was running 3.2.1. I use the device for testing apps; the device is not rooted.

I turned the device on today for the first time in awhile. Without thinking, when notified with there was a system update, I downloaded the update. Turns out it was an OS update to ICS. I want this device to remain on Android 3.x (I already have 4.0 & 4.1 devices). But it is now running 4.0.4.

I did the factory reset, but that did not reset the OS back to 3.x. Is there any way to revert the change (go back to Android 3.x on the device)?

It is possible and a few have done just that. I don't recall seeing a complete written procedure for what you are asking though. That may be because so few intentionally downgrade.

You may have to revert to an HC bootloader first. There should be several threads on how to flash a bootloader over on XDA also.

Thanks, I'll look into that.

I did connect with Acer support and they said it was not possible to revert back to 3.2. But that response wasn't a big surprise.

I did the gobace to 3.2.1 and after a bit of disapointment I decided I wanted to go back to ICS. So it can be done. You have to wipe your drive and reinstall 3.2.1. I bricked my tablet when I did it and had to have some help getting it back up and running. So if you do it beware, you could breick it. Mrhelper is a big help in all the problems I have had with my tablet.
