Root Incoming call

Hi,
I have bought a used HTC wildfire S and when I answer a call I cannot hear the caller except when I activate the speaker. Is there a setting that needs to be set or is it faulty.

Are you rooted? If you are, can you give us some specifics about your ROM?

If you're not, or you have no idea what I'm talking about, please let us know and we can move this thread to where it'll get a little more exposure.
