Help Incoming text problem

I just got my Evo a few days ago and have had no problems. All of the sudden, I see that I've got a new text message. My home screen happens to be up and I can see the first 4 words of the text at the top of the page. I go into my messages to read the message and the only text there is the last text I sent them. I asked them to resend their text and they sent another text, but now it just shows the last messages that I sent. I can still see their messages previous to this"interruption", but nothing new from them. I took the battery out of the phone for a minute and rebooted the phone, but the messages still aren't showing up and they're still texting me. I called my provider and they tried sending updates to the phone, but nothing. Any ideas? I checked other threads, but nothing quite like this.

Here's a quick question, are you rooted? And if you are, have you tried wiping everything and flashing the ROM again?

And if you aren't, try rooting . If you don't want to do that quite yet, try to "Factory data reset". (Home screen->MENU->Settings->SD & phone storage->Factory data reset)
