Newbie here. I tried to send a friend a video and after fiddling about saw that the multimedia mewssage size was a PUNY 300KB!!! My old Sony could send any size of file! How do I increase it to a decent size?

Its a technical limit of the network. 300KB is the maximum (in the UK at least) that an MMS can be.

Most probably your friend's phone resized the image to under 300KB before sending it.

You have a smart phone. Perhaps e-mailing it would be better? And cheaper.
