Root Increase signal strength

Yup. From the app descriptions of these kind of apps (there are quite a few), all they do is toggle airplane mode to connect you to the strongest/closest tower/mast

Yes I do agree fully. Reception is conditional..... So is anyone running the cm12.1 on the Samsung Avant???
Constructive thoughts only please. Lol. I am optimistic and respectful of the build and efforts

If it's poor reception inside a bulding, you can possibly get something called a "femtocell", which is effectively your own personal cellular base station. That just your phone can use when it's inside the building. You'll have to speak to your carrier about them.

If software alone can increase signal strength, then that would probably be magic.

Not a stock kernel issue - there are a number of details to get right, especially with AOSP type kernels on branched Androids.
Yeah I meant the rom's default kernel. I often read rom teams refer to it as "are you using stock kernel?" when they mean their own :thumbsupdroid:

True mate. Or most that ive used have used a modded cm kernel I think(?)
And I'm taking about "aosp based" roms (cm based mostly)

Have you updated to latest baseband? While it doesn't change the laws of physics, it does optimize the battery power required to communicate with the tower.
