Help Incredible 2 WONT UNLOCK!

I have had this phone for a little over a month and no problems up until now. i am stuck on the unlock screen. I can receive phone calls and i have service, but it says no service, my background screen is black and when I press the power button to make the screen go black it wont light back up after. Any help? I have already removed the batter and let it sit i have tried restarting it without the sd in and the sim and without both and i get the same thing every time. If anyone can help me It would be GREATLY appreciated.

Factory reset. Turn off the phone then hold down the volume down key while turning the phone on. You will be in HBOOT. Volume down to Factory Reset then press the power button. If that doesn't work it's warranty replacement time.

Go ahead and try that & see what happens...

I am wondering about the battery? Is it charging?
How does it react when you attach it to the charger?
I am thinking you might have just got a bad battery, charging port broken or a faulty electrical outlet, something along those lines.

I'm having a hard time seeing how a bad battery would make the software go haywire. I can see it not turning on properly or not hold charger when unplugged, but making the lock screen go bananas?

Nevertheless, the factory reset should fix it. OP, please let us know what the result is when you get done with it

When pressing the power button to lock the screen and it won't light back up after could mean the battery is not fully charged and the phone is dying due to not enough power to turn the screen back on...
Maybe it's not charging properly or has fluctuating voltage causing problems. The battery *might* be bad, causing other problems.

But, anyway, a factory reset sounds like the best thing to try for this.

I am having this EXACT SAME problem and was wondering if the OP had found a solution.

Last night, my phone - which has never had a problem and which I have never done anything outside factory specs to - made a weird beep and I looked over to see my wallpaper had gone black and the battery needed to be charged - even though it had been at 80% an hour earlier and my home has 3-4 bars all the time.

I didn't pay much attention, hooked up the charger, and let it go. A few hours later, I unplugged the charger, and all I see is a black background, my top bar with the icons for:

sync, location, 3G, 3 bars, full batt & time listed

and SCREEN LOCKED... but nothing happens when I touch the touch screen. (At the time, it was also giving me an odd "no signal" error - which I have NEVER had an issue with and has since gone away.)

When I press the power button, the screen goes black, and won't turn back on, reset, etc. The sync icon never goes away and the battery drains FAST.

I've pulled the battery, recharged a couple times, let it sit all night, and just did a factory reset.

I got through the activation screens perfectly, then as soon as everything was confirmed and it dumped me to the home screen, the touch screen stopped working again. I pulled the battery and rebooted and I'm back to the black background/screen locked screen.

Should I go straight to Verizon or try to pull the sim card and SD card and try to do a factory reset without those?

I'd just take it to the store if still under warranty.
