Help Incredible 2 won't Update!!!

Hi, I've had this phone for about 7 months now, and its great! The only problem i'm having is that after I did an update last fall (cant remember when exactly), the "check new" update function wont work. When I press it, it just flashes and did nothing. The current versions of things are:

Android 2.3.4
HTC Sense 2.1
Software 4.08.605.3

I know it has a software and sense update but the update wont even work. How can I fix this? Will rooting fix it?

Are you a verizon customer? Are you on the VZ network, or roaming?

Rooting will allow you to install the newest version of the software by installing a ROM based on the update or you can install a ROM with Ice Cream Sammich. The sky's the limit!

My wife had this problem with her Incredible 2. She decided to do a factory reset. Once she did that the update came through.

The factory reset worked! Thanks... I wasn't sure if it would work or not and didn't want to reset the phone for nothing. I also preferred not to root since i have no idea what i'm doing and don't wanna screw up the phone.

I'm glad it worked for you. This update improved my wife's phone quite a bit.
