My fear is that it keeps getting pushed back, June goes to July and then before you know its the begining of August and boom Verizon puts into effect the new data plans. Let's hope this isn't the case. Still we are talking another month away for release, cases are already available but no phone LOL

First off, if your Org Inc is not rooted, I would first suggest rooting it and installing a custom ROM. If you don't want to do that, I would suggest a factory reset. Might be a bit of a pain, but it would get you back to factory settings and you can reinstall what you need. All info you need to do this is on the Incredible forum. As for the Rezound. Don't do it! It's a pile of crap. I had it for a week and returned it, my son had the Rezound for 6 months and had to return it 3 times. This last time he said he didn't want another one and Big Red gave him one of the Mot Droids. I think the Bionic?? Do yourself a big favor. Try what I suggested with your Inc and wait it out. Hopefully this 4G will be out soon. Another option would be to pick up an Inc 2 off ebay or craigslist and then just resell it when the Inc 4G comes out. But JMHO!!

Dang. Well that's disappointing to hear. With regard to the factory reset, I have done that with this phone like 4-5 times in the past. It's a huge pain in the ass and it never seems to fully resolve the issues. At one point Verizon told me that they think there is something wrong with the hardware/antenna in the phone, but my warranty has expired so they won't replace it. The funny thing is that since there is no physical damage to my phone, my insurance won't cover it either! I said to the agent, "so basically what you're telling me is that the only way you can help me is if say... my phone somehow accidentally jumped out of my hand and crashed against a wall?" Response: "Assuming it was an accident... yes." Of course, using the insurance would require a $100 deductable, which obviously isn't worth it.

So, given that the hardware in the phone seems to be the problem, I'm curious about this whole rooting thing (not because I think it will fix the hardware, but because I am not worried about screwing up the phone). It all sounds a little complex for me though, like someone who knows how to use computers vs. someone who knows how to program code or take computers apart.

What are the advantages/disadvantages of rooting? Does it turn my phone (in terms of the UI) into something completely different? Is it really technical that someone who doesn't normally to things like that would find to be a pain in the ass ?

^^
When I used the insurance option about a year ago on my OG Inc, they sent me the Inc 2. If thats worth saving your upgrade, you may want to look into that. If they provided me with the new phone that long ago, Im pretty sure they are well out of OG Incredible devices so you wouldnt have to worry about paying $100 for the same phone.

Just a thought.

.-.
Another...month.... It looks like this phone is going to be like the Bionic. How many times can they keep delaying this phone? It was finalized months ago, any issues should have been fixed up then.
If this comes out after the shared data plans take effect, im going to die.
Also, there would really be no benefit to them purposedly delaying the phone til after the plans take effect. How much of their customer based do you think already has an upgrade waiting and is just waiting for a new phone? How many of those have unlimited data? And how many of those would willingly give up their unlimited data for one of the new phones coming out?

How can it be delayed when they never had a release date?

Verizon's website shows they now have 1 Original Droid Incredible by HTC (Certified Pre-Owned) for Free on a 2 yr contract, full retail is $429.99. It sure looks pretty sitting there waiting for a new owner. :p It's a great starter phone for someone just getting into their first smartphone. It was my first smartphone and I still love it.

Just because we werent told it had a release date, doesnt mean it didnt have one that we werent aware of. Product training was a month ago for the phone, cases and extended batterys are already out, its clearly already been delayed a few times, whether we were informed of it or not. Verizon chooses to announce things a day or two advance, does that mean one exec. suddenly wakes up that day and says "Hey! Lets release this phone today!". No, of course not, they probably plan it a while in advance. Verizon officially said the phone will be here "in the coming weeks" so if the phone isnt here "in the coming weeks", then that clearly shows it has been delayed once again. June 7 marks the day its been a month since that announcement, and that it didnt arrive here "in the coming weeks". If it isnt here by then, then I'll be inclined to believe that June 21st date. After that, if its delayed again, or if the data sharing takes effect, I'm buying a Nexus. I'm tired of waiting, some of you may have suitable phones, but I have a POS phone that I am very eager to get rid of.

I agree, clearly it's been delayed. Almost every rep from the CTIA said its coming soon in the next few weeks, that has well passed, even the phone reviewers who were there were saying a few weeks. I also thought some phone reviewers like Aaron or Phil would have had a phone by now to review on site but it's obvious there has been a delay.

It has been delayed internally, but every company delays products, it is just that things don't leak as often as some of the technology products. There is a reason Verizon tries to keep things from leaking.

We shouldn't look for items to leak about release dates, then be mad when those dates aren't met. It would be one thing if Verizon said this is coming out in May publicly, then it got delayed, but when people are digging for internal documentation and are mad because the dates don't match what we thought, that isn't Verizon's fault.

Anyone who has worked for a big company like Verizon knows how product releases can be delayed, even non-technology products.

But Verizon officially said it will be available "in the coming weeks", so if it doesn't meet that time frame then it has been delayed. They basically said it will come out in May.

To the guy who's original Dinc is dying and asking why not just get the Rezound: Don't get it and wait for the Dinc 4G because the Rezound does not have an S4 Qualcomm chip.

As to what to get in the interim: another original Dinc. Find it used off contract for $75, and sell it when the Dinc 4G is in your hand.

I didn't even think verizon officially confirmed this phone existed.

O_o Where have you been..? lol. Verizon officially announced the phone at CTIA on May 7. There's tons of videos of people handling the phone at CTIA as well. Their official statement said we can expect it "in the coming weeks"

Edit: I'm going on a Verizon sales rep chat spree again. While I know they probably aren't informed of the phone at all, a few of them might have connections with people who do know. I just got an answer from someone "Between you and me, 6/7/12" So there's another possible release date!

do we have a date for the new data plans yet? IM also hoping this phone comes out before the new plans take affect...

That's right, it's official for sure.

I'm more concerned that I keep seeing that it's only a super LCD qHD display. The only place I have seen that it's SLCD2 is from the HTC rep in that video, either he was misinformed or the official release doc from Verizon is not documented correctly.

6/7/12 sounds more like it, the 21st just sounds so far away especially when they have touted coming in a few weeks.

I was also thinking, if this phone is so close to being released, then the phone has already been made right? If there are thousands of these sitting in Verizon's warehouse and something is wrong with the port (if that is true) how do they fix that seeing the phone has already been made? If something is wrong with the port isn't that a "physical thing"?

I think they meant port as in sea port, where the phones come in. It would make sense because of the whole customs issue. If there was an issue with the phone, and tons of models were all sitting in a warehouse, then they would have to all be recalled to be fixed by the manufacturer.

Also, I believe they only said "SLCD" as a generalization, as this is only a mid-range device. The press-release did not go in too indepth, and perhaps the display is something they were not focusing on the device. From the videos, the display very clearly looks like an SLCD2, or a better SLCD technology. IMO from that video I posted, it looks better than the SLCD2 screens on the One series. HTC has released plenty of phones with the SLCD technology, and now all their new phones use SLCD2; why would they exclude this phone? Even the One V, a budget phone, that I believe is only a single core S3 processor, has the SLCD2 screen. Most of the reviewers who saw the screen said it matched the high bar set by the One X, and that the image was very close to the front of the display, which are qualities of the SLCD2 technology. Another reason Verizon may have not mentioned it's SLCD2, is because it's a Droid phone. They may not want their customers being confused by the difference between SLCD and SLCD2, and it just may not make a difference to them.

Why would SLCD look better than SLCD2? Granted it sort of doesnt make sense why the Dinc4gs screen looks better than the One series, but it does. I can clearly see a difference in the displays though, so perhaps it is just SLCD. The thing is, the difference is that the Dinc's looks better so again that wouldnt make sense.

You: when will the Droid Incredible 4G be released?
Daniel: I do apologize as I do not have information concerning upcoming release dates on future devices

Thats what i get 75% of the time. 10% of the people dont know what the phone is. And 15% give me some release date that may or not be real. So far ive gotten the 31st and June 7.
Edit: Another hit on the 31st.
Edit: Another hit on the 7th lol.

Verizon has not released a new phone since last December and while I'm not a conspiracy theorist I'm beginning to think they're with holding phones until they can get the new Family Share Plans in place so no one can keep their unlimited data plan with a brand new phone. They want EVERYONE off these plans (especially on LTE) as soon as they can. I really want the Dinc 4GLTE NOW so I can have LTE and a new phone (this is the perfect upgrade from a Dinc 2) for at least 2 years.

lg lucid, razr maxx, spectrum, droid 4 all released after then....

They will release it right after the new share data plans come into effect.
You sound pretty certain of that. I don't think so. I'm trying to stay optimistic. I think it'll look bad for them press wise if they delay it til then, It's a pretty *****ey move.

They'd be pretty much screwing over the maybe 100 some people who have been waiting for this phone and already have an upgrade. There would be really no benefit to delaying it til afterward just to get a very small portion of their customer base off the unlimited data plan, it would only piss people off. I'm sure these customers would upgrade to an already existing phone anyways once they hear about the data sharing plans, which I will be. I said this before and I will say it again, the people who already have an upgrade available and are waiting for this phone to come out represent such a small portion of their customer base that it would provide no benefits to them except getting a few people off the unlimited data plan. This data sharing plan is meant to affect people who aren't due for an upgrade yet.

Guys, I gave in and got a Razr Maxx. I have 30 days to return it to best buy but I think i MAY hold onto it until the next Nexus comes out probably this fall with jellybean.

It's been fun.

You may lose your upgrade eligibility from Verizon if you return the Maxx later than two weeks. That is how it was for me when I returned my Lucid back to Amazon. They will return it for you up to 30 days but you lose your upgrade status after 14.

Ha, now I feel stupid, :o I thought the person that mentioned this was referring to the usb port. So this was held up with the other HTC phones recently, I guess, if that is true. I'm pretty excited to see some reviews once this phone gets into the hands of Aaron, Phil, etc...

Remember these two timeless messages? Good things come in small packages, and good things come to those that wait. I'll make it because my og dinc is what I received the last time I went through this, and it was worth the wait. Anticipation is making me wait.
