Someone here had mentioned on the last page that they heard that on the SGS3 forum. So I called in to see. He hadn't heard that but went to check, came back and said that was indeed true (stop taking preorders on the 17th. He went on to say that they may extend the preorders if sales fall short of expectations. Also 3 telesales reps confirmed a couple things for me.
First, they said that once you preorder you're locked in until you receive it, and that it can't be cancelled ahead of time.
Second, to complete the obligations of the contract you have to activate the phone itself (someone here or an another forum was saying there was a way to sell the phone without activating it i.e. not removing it from the package thereby being able to sell it as barnd new, never opened).
Lastly, that as long as you exchange directly for another phone in the 14 day trial, you won't be subject to the new plans. The reason why is the second phone is going off of the contract you agreed to when you preordered, so you're not having to accept terms on the second phone.
This, again, is what I was told by them. This time it was Telesales reps telling me rather than CSRs, and most seem to think the Telesales reps have a better handle on things. The reason to wait until I receive the phone to exchange was they said the preorder couldn't be cancelled. So, if the Inc4g comes out before or during the 14 day period, I will exchange to that. If not, I'll sell and wait for it to come out & buy it retail. If Framcire is right & an exchange would force me into a share plan, I'll sell the SGS3 & get the Inc4g retail. The reason I didn't wait until the 21st is I had 2 reps say that so far it looks like they'll stop taking preorders on the 17th, unless sales fall short of expectations. So I reasoned that my best bet for reselling a phone would be the newest released which is the SGS3.
. Even though Big Red seems to be screwing us every way possible, I still think eventually I will see this phone... Still keeping my fingers crossed it is June 21st!
