Help Incredible, APN, Quick Settings Bug, and Mobile Data Switch Issue

OK, DEFINITELY an APN issue.

I installed the Curvefish APN On/Off widget and had both things turned on (forgot what it was, but there was a MMS option) and pic msgs came in fine! Tested from friends ATT network and my EVO - no error messages.

I uninstalled it and sure as s**t, the error messages came back. I also powered off before and after install/uninstall.

So, can someone please tell me where exactly the APN settings are on the EVO? I really don't want to deal with a widget unless its absolutely necessary (since my EVO doesn't need it). I looked but keep coming up empty. This is annoying. Sadly, Sprint/HTC tech support have no clue either except for "hard reset"...

Almost got this one nailed down?

An update to my previous post, and I'm sorry for again hijacking this thread with EVO issues but I think I somewhat stumbled on a resolution after the unsucessufl atempts at curvefish and xml edit. But I'm not positive if it applies to everyone. It did come at a cost of a wipe data/cache and dalvik. After, I tested out by sending a mms and it worked fine.
Then going through all of my apps with titanium's restore, I noticed that I used to have DroidWall, and it had "messaging" as blacklisted. I wanted to be sure so I asked my co-worker whose EVO also has Droidwall installed. We tested DW's blacklist functions and produced the same "generic network" issue. I guess if your phone is not rooted then DW may not be an issue. Therefore, take a look at your APN and make sure the string is correct, if so, see if you can recall installing any apps that blocks networking communication.

Post #19 worked for me. I had just spent a day searching for fixes on the net, then another 2 hours with Verizon techs. Both with no fix. Then I ran across this thread. O for joy. My droid x with update 2.3.340 is purrin along. That was the last bug I had.

Hello all, im a new owner of the HTC wildfire and am having these mms problems as well. I have tried everything that has been posted so far, and nothing seems to work. There are no "disabled" or notype="-mms". I am beginning to wonder if the fact that I bought my phone in the UK and am now in the USA has anything to do with it. Please help and sorry that i'm phone illiterate.
Thanks so much

I used Quick Settings and accidentally turned off Mobile Date on my EVO. It broke my MMS as well. I used the APN Backup Restore and edit method from above and it worked great. Thanks for the help. ;)

PLEASE HELP!!!

HELP?!?!

see above

T Mobile just released a huge update in April 2011. I had the same generic network failure for my MMS messages incoming.
Despite a factory reset it worked for a while then stopped.
Now after installing the software it works and I have been able to download the pics that earlier did not download.
Its a hard wire download though, can't do it through the air.
First you download the HTC sync software. Then you download the My Touch exe file, and whola! After 7-10 minutes, you can down load files again.
And talk using WIFI, a huge plus since my calls drops every now and then due to poor service inside my place.
Hope this helps everyone.
Sorry no link, but google it and you will easily find it under HTC sync update for t mobile.
My phone is My Touch Slide 3.0.

I have Verizon...

help me please you people are the first I've seen to have knowledge and solutions!!

so I tried the curvefish option - got the on/off thing but no options under menu to reset???

Pulled up the apn file details - nothing with disabled or -1 in?? however weirdly noticed a lot of the code talks about orange, when I'm on o2 - don't know if they share internet??

Please help am about to lose my mind!!!

P.s. I can't send or receive :-( just says failure

I also tried the curvefish - still cannot download an MMS. I added APN backup and restore but I have a Mac and don't know where to proceed to from the instructions of INTRE{ID - NY. Does anyone have a mac that can help me.

After the recent gingerbread update removed the "mobile network off" option that's in the menu when you hold the power button down, I tried to use quicksettings to do the work. That didn't work and it caused the problem as well. I followed the instructions on editing the APN. Worked perfectly. My thanks to the writer.
