Incredible as a Music Player

Not sure Izzy. There are no apps that closely resemble apple software that I have seen.

You could try a few of the players listed in this thread and see which you like. Easily installed and removed as needed.

As far as transferring your music. I have seen threads regarding this. I'm sure of you look around and use the search box you can find more info.

All my music is on my computer in lossless so I just converted a ton of it to mp3 in batch more using "Free Converter" version 1.9

I didn't use any of my playlists. I just didn't convert any music I didn't want to hear =)

Sorry I am not more helpful. I'm sure someone will post some pointers. This forum rocks!

Does anyone have issues with Doubletwist on windows 7? I just installed it and it wont run. It freezes on start up. I have rebooted, uninstalled and tried again but no go.

I used iSyncr with relative success. It syncs direct from itunes into a folder it places on your SD card. You can select music, videos, and playlists. It also brings over album art. It's a bit clunky, in that you need to reselect what you want to sync each time... so I'm not sure it's right for someone who wants to regulary sync.

What would be the app most closely related to the itouch for music playing?

I have never been an Itouch user but have seen this discussed several times and other people have mentioned that Btunes seems to operate and look the closest to an Itouch. The only problem is that although the app is still available it appears to have been abandoned by developer? And definitely does not support internal storage.

Do these 3rd party apps integrate with the lock screen like the HTC default music player does?

Yes...some of them have they're own style of lock screen widget but not all. The lock screen widget I like most is of course the one that I use...MixZing...

mixzing is basic but has a better lock screen widget than 3. Until HTC fixes it's bug, MixZing is the way to go because it fits my needs. Now only if HTC or some could make a player with a lock screen widget and divx/avi play back for my movies. Handbrake is killing me converting everything over.

OK, so these apps use their own lockscreen widgets, not the default one that's used when using the HTC music player?

Also, check out Rock Player for playing divx/avi files. Performs perfectly for video whose resolution size is around the same as that of the screen.

I second Rock Player. It's still in rough form but has played every video I have shot at it without the need to encode including flv's which is awesome.

OP, I can't say I agree with you. I've had nothing short of a fantastic experience listening to music on my Incredible. The sound quality of all my 320kbps mp3s sounds excellent, which I listen to via my car stereo system or my JLab J3 earbuds. The music player handles nicely and is very user-friendly. Although, two things I'd like to see changed with the music player are:
- When returning to music list from a playing song, have it go back to where you were in the list, not the top.
- Have a quick way to return to the "now playing" song without having to use a widget, etc.

I personally cannot use "3", as it sucks for quick navigating when I want to see the whole list of artists. Its other layouts aren't much better, either. The zune-like text layout is the best, but it lags while scrolling and lacks album art. [last I checked]

Mixzing is really, really good, but it could use a better navigation layout. I don't like their font color choice. I'm a big fan of HTC's white background with black text; nice and simple.

for those interested, mixzing just updated today and has added an equalizer. it's not *perfect* yet, but at the rate they update, i'm sure it won't be long.

I can't believe this hasn't been mentioned yet.....

Subsonic. Subsonic Music Streamer - Android app on AppBrain
Seriously. Just get it. It's sick. And much better with the most recent updates. Especially for those who are ruining their sound quality by compressing their mp3s, since they're running out of space. That's tragic.

Also, if you listen to a lot of underground music, Last.fm blows the nuts off of Pandora. It's also got very good sound quality, for the most part.

I would like to be another to sing the praises of Subsonic. I think it's one of the two coolest things I can do on my phone, along with playing Pokemon.

I think it's more for people with many gigs of music (I have 180), as it does lack several features that many music players provide. You have to keep the Host computer on, like with a server, and you can't make playlists from the app (or, at least, I haven't found a way to). However, there is nothing like wanting to show someone a song and all I have to do is poke my phone a couple of times to make it happen

One thing that drives me nuts is that the default Android music app does not show the album track list for each album. When I click on an album, I want to see a blown up list of the tracks in it. I just tried the MixZing app (free version) last night and it is great. It does a great job of showing track lists. Though, there is no way in hell Im paying 7 dollars for the full version =( I like its gestures and lock screen.

It amazes me how lacking the default music apps for Android and Sense are. Dont get me wrong, they get the job done, but this is a state of the art touchscreen/voice phone. Why are gestures and voice commands not available? The sad thing is, I have a bad feeling that Froyo will not add these features either. I guess Google has other priorities.

Try XiiaLive lite if you haven't. I'm loving it. It's like free satellite radio. Some good talk and comedy channels too.

I like MortPlayer, still in Beta though. Love the interface (has nice widgets and is customizable). Also has an audio books plugin. Also use in conjunction with Album Art Grabber. Good stuff.

The Mixzing eq is nice, but it will not work if the player is not open. They claim it is a bug with Android and a prompt to flag it for google comes up.

yep what we really need is an eq that controls all or the selected audio outputs of phone not just inside of one app. But that was a pretty quick start. I wonder if MixZing whipped that out just cause we were talking about it or it was just coincidence?

Speaking of coincidence The very next time I heard my phone ring after using the EQ for the first time my rear speaker blew. Waiting on my replacement.

The latest update of Mixzing (today) has an EQ feature included (see a few posts up).
The EQ was in there when I downloaded it a couple days ago. The app is new to me though, so I have no idea when they added. Great music player. Best on Android, I think.

thanks to both of you, I had that a little while ago and uninstalled it. I'll try it again and see.
