Incredible as a Music Player

How is everyone making playlists? I have been using the stock player on the phone but its a real pain. The only think I like about my ipod is the ability to make play lists on itunes on your computer, otherwise I'm not enough of an audiophile to care about anything else. Any aps that will let me make playlists on my PC??

Not sure, but with Widget Gadget it does. A (barely)hair flaky, but is receiving updates fairly quick. Its a $1 app no free version though.
 
I tried many music apps, including bTunes, but ended up staying with MixZing. Mainly for its lock screen widget. What makes the lock screen so great are two things ...

1) You can use swipe gestures to skip songs and pause the music.
2) it has an option/setting to force the screen to temporarily come back on when songs change. I like this, because I mostly use shuffle, and many times I want to know what song is playing. If I hear a song I don't recognize, I simply look down and see the name and album art.

I emailed the developer with a few feature requests and he responded that they plan on allowing skins in the future. In the short term they plan to release a handful of their own skins, but with the ultimate long term goal to allow the community to make their own skins. This is huge in my book. MixZing has all the features I would want in a music player. But with skins, it would make this awesome app even better.
 
i had a question about the Music player.. I love the wayb it works except that for singles the album art is screwed up

for instance i have Coldplay albums on phone with cover art.. all works great sorted by album
I aloso have like 10 coldplay singles, each with individual art, for album name ID3 tag i put Single, so that theyre listen togethr, but when i play them, the cover for all singles becomes the same, usually from one of the singles.

Can it be fixed so that non-album covers show up properly too? thanks

You need to get rid of the Jpeg in the folder since it will put that on all the songs. If each track has its individual album art tag, you should have no problems.
 
So I've tried all of the players listed in this thread, the overall winners are 3 (cubed) and btunes. Both have very pretty GUI, both work very well and found all of my music without problems (on SD card). They automatically downloaded album art.
My one question, btunes says it has a widget, I cannot find the damn thing. Is it something to be downloaded separately?
I love threads like this, and am very pleased with my decision to get the DInc. Keep up the great work!
 
Now that I got my 32gb card (TYVM Verizon). I plan on reloading my music at a higher bit rate.

I may be buying some new BT earbuds. I love the Sony Ericsson ones I have been using, but I need more battery life. Anyone use the Sennheiser MM 200 Bluetooth Headset?

I would mostly like to know if all the functions work.


Anyone have any thoughts on Kleer Technology for the DInc? I wonder if it would be worth trying out on a device like the DInc.

As I have stated a few times on this thread, I wish google took the music aspect more seriously. They could have a slam dunk here.

I dont use it like that, no folders.. Just a bunch of mp3's.. the player thinks that since its an album and lists all the singles under singles, which i like, but all their covers are the same cuz it thinks its an album. Each mp3 is aggisned a unique cover, but phone shows all same for singles.. For albums work fine.
 
Hello All...So I have finally crumbled and have explored using the Incredible as my primary music player...I have to say, I'm impressed. I've used bTunes, MixZing and the stock player. I find that the stock app does a HORRIBLE job with getting all of my album artwork. In my iTunes library, EVERY song has artwork, so when I drag and drop from my computer to my SD card, not sure why some transfer over and others don't. Can anyone shed some light? bTunes does a decent job with getting the artwork on whatever didn't transfer. Still though, not sure why ALL don't transfer over. MixZing is GREAT. Have been using it for a few days and am happy with it. Still again, artwork issue though but MUCH BETTER than the stock in that aspect.

I have a question though. I have recently been copying and pasting my music, over the wifi network, from my Mac to my Incredible, so that I don't have to deal with the wires when I'm in a rush or something. But, the music library in all of these apps is not updating on their own, but the music is in fact in the proper folder on the sd card. Is there a workaround for this??? I can't get the music to show up in ANY of the applications, when putting them there in this fashion. Thanks!
 
I use the stock player and am happy with it. I just put all of my albums in their respective folders and rename the cover art to "folder.jpg" and everything shows up perfectly.
 
if you want an easy way to get album art for all your music, you should use foobar2000 with the biography view component. it retrieves album art from the last.fm database which is pretty expansive. just drag-n-drop your tunes from the sd card to a new playlist. select all > right click > get album artwork. you can even specify your preference of saving artwork, and save artist pictures as well.

i run this once on my computer, and don't have to worry about which players will fetch artwork. it also saves bandwidth, which is always a hot commidity.

i've been meaning to check out a few other players. my fuze just broke, so i'll be transitioning to using my phone as an mp3 player full-time for a while now.
 
Will definitely look into the above artwork fixes. But do any of you have any help with why my library's won't update when I copy and paste music into the "My Music" folder on my SD card?? I can't get them to show in my libraries and can only access them if I go INTO the D card..Thnks!
 
I have an online iTunes account with songs and albums that I'd like to download to my Dinc. Is it as simple as connecting my phone as a disc drive and copying the songs to my SD card music folder or to the EMMC(sp) memory in its music folder??? Please give me some general guidance before I mess something up. I hope the file formats are compatible. :o

Also, as I use Amazon and can use the Amazon MP3 app, I want to know if I buy a song/album from them, is it loaded to the SD card as music or the phone memory as music...or do you get to choose before downloading the file? :(

I used this but it only seems to link the "founded" artwork with the stock player. Is there a way to set it so that it can link to other music apps such as MixZing??
 
This phone still works as a music player for some people? It has been completely broken for me and others since the 2.2 update. What are you guys doing differently. I have a 32 gb card from verizon that has about 10 gb of mostly mp3s, and it starts breaking up and skipping part way through songs. Usually while running with sporty pal. Was working great pre-froyo.

I was having skipping issues too. But changed a setting in Mixing that has fixed it. Go to Menu>Settings>Audio Buffer Size. I set mine from Normal to Medium and it fixed the skipping issue.


FYI - I got this tip from the Mixing developer. He is AWESOME! I have yet to send him a question or request email that has not been quickly responed to. I highly recommend anyone that owns an Android phone to support them. Mixing is expensive, but well worth it; for the features and support.

Well can u ask him how come his app doesn't pull in all my artwork!!??! The 2 other apps I am experimenting with, ALL pull it in or at least have the option to "look up" and it then grabs them from their sources. I have more missing album artwork on Mixzing than in bTunes or the Stock, combined..So frustrating.:mad:

Why don't you email him? He is very friendly and helpful.

I have all my artwork embedded in my mp3's, so I do not have any issues.

Someone else mentioned this before also. What does that mean? I mean, in iTunes, everything has artwork and i just dragged and dropped from there. What am I missing?

WOW!! Just downloaded it...LOOKS AWESOME and just what I want! Let's see if the artwork can behave :(

**After using it lacks a little. Doesn't have a "manual update" or "scan" which is a pain bc it doesn't automatically update my library after putting in new music. Neither does the stock one for that matter...That stinks for me bc I put stuff on my SD card over wifi all the time.
