Help Incredible bluetooth issue

Ha anyone had an issue with their incredible not connecting to their car? MIne will connect for half the day on the initial connect only after a hard reset of a new phone. I have had 3 replacements. The car is a 2011 maxima and the incredible is on the compatible list for the car. Now it will be "paired" but not connected and every time it connects it disconnects 30 seconds later. Thanks for your help!

The only way to diagnose the problem is to try another Incredible that's factory fresh with your car (try a Verizon store), and if that still doesn't work try another 2011 Maxima at the dealer. If it takes only 30 secs to disconnect then it wouldn't take very long to test with another car.

But before you do any of that, check any battery-saving settings or 3rd party apps that may be interfering with BT.

I have a 2011 BMW 5, and had similiar (though not identical syptoms). Mine would pair and connect, but disconnect anywhere from 1 second to 10s of minutes after syncing the address book.

I discovered that non-alphanumeric characters in names in the contact list were causing the failure. This included special characters (appostrophes, quotes, parens, etc), or having more than just first and last name (ie: more than 2 words). Once I "cleaned up" my contact names, it's worked flawlessly.

I've wondered whether there is a bug in the Incredible's BT data encoding, a bug in the BMW's decoding, or a combination of both. Special characters are fine if directly entered into the BMW, so it's not a simple lack of support for these.

the problem is it will work for half the day on a new phone...so if I do a hard reset or get a new one it will work. after that it will disconnect every minute or so. Thats the problem. I think im going to switch to a fascinate for a few days see if the problem still happens. I think I ma also do a hard reset again also and not install any apps

I will try this also! Thank you very much!

so...I am almost 100 percent sure it is the phone book issue mentioned above. I did not sync the phonebook until I can go through and fix my contacts. Works fine now

Interesting... I've been having the same problem with my 2010 Jetta. The phone will connect, but then 1-3 minutes later the BT connection drops. I'm going to try taking a look at my phone book.

I tried pairing with a garmin with bluetooth and it paired, but then disconnected. When I tried again without giving access to the phonebook, it paired and didn't disconnect. So, I'm connected without access to the phonebook! I tried cleaning up phonebook, but that made no difference. I don't get it!
