Incredible hype/posts vs Incredible 2 hype/posts - WOW

Let us see so far on the premium priced devices with VZW besides the Inc 2:

1. Thunderbolt: Battery hog with 4gb of storage crippled
2. Charge: Already getting bad reports on battery and has a year old chipset (though still better than the 8655 in the Inc 2, TB, X Play and Rev).
3. Bionic: Steve Austin needs about a four month rebuild
4. X Play: 380mb of device storage space- now THAT is retro
5. LG Rev: Though the same single core as the others (sans Bionic), at least it has some things going for it over the others: IPS display, HDMI, dedicated video decoding chip and 16gb internal storage and microsd. It also has Netflix and Netflix controls mobile devices via the device model, so no Netlfix unless the OEM pays for the privilege. Inc 2 owners, enjoy Blockbuster ;)

So what devices should Verizon have right now that other carries have that are premium?

These are my choices the Optimus G2X, Atrix, Samsung Galaxy S 2, Evo 3D, LG Thrive (lol, just kidding about the thrive). Granted some of these aren't out yet, but IMO, these phones beats most of the announced or already available "new" phones that VZW has on their lineup.

Tmo has two dual cores, but their data and call network makes having them, bittersweet.

IMO, the LG Rev seems to have the most potential and maybe the different 4g radio chip will make a difference for the battery. The IPS display should too. Not a dual core, but will most people care? VZW are counting on this, since they have none.

Unless the 4" Inc 2 display is a better hand fit, Rev has all the extra things mentioned: 16gb internal, hdmi, dedicated video decoding chip, IPS display and Netflix.

I tether my iPod4 using my Inc to play Netflix and that works well. Using one device for direct playback would better (of course).

I hope this works with the Incredible 2.

I ordered it off Amazon when I had my Inc., and before I received them I switched to my DX. I would have returned them if I hadn't been for the fact they accidentally sent me 3 batteries instead of 2, It's just too good to send back. :P

the batteries have to be under 5.1 whr in order for it to work with incredible two. plus you have to trim tabs that keep it in place and place it upside down and then it will work fine.

If it means I'd have to mod the battery to get it to fit I'm probably better off just returning these for the time being.

I hear the Inc. S has good battery, and if I see the need I can pick up another down the road. Thanks for the info!

Edit: Yay, 50th post. :P

Its just the two small tabs that are made of plastic. No lithium leakage or anything

Ohh ok. I'll hold on to these until I play around with the Inc. 2 next week and decide. Amazon is pretty good about the return window. Thanks for the info.. again!

...minus the next week part. I'm pretty sure it's not going to launch the 28th now since the Charge is. I really don't care as long as it's out before August. I have to go out of the country again in August and would really like to have it then.

I probably shouldn't expect it so blindly to launch then. I just really don't want them to pull a Merge on us here.

You are a brave soul using an Android device out of country. The data accumulation fees are insane and VZW will cut no slack. If you go to areas and travel amongst several countries- YIKES! They will rip you and VZW will pass it on to you.

I go to England, but sign up with Tmo and then use my N900. Have witnessed several horror stories and all of them thought not using the Android phone much would save them cost. Catch is Android pulls data in the background and a one week trip could end up with hundreds in data fees.

BTW, turning background data off, does not stop the data flow. That myth is right up there with folks thinking not using it much stops the data charges.

The two sure fire options to stop the bill shock:

1. Leave the phone off and turn on when you need it (extreme)
2. Turn the radios off and turn them on when you need them (wifi is not charged for data- of course).

Second Reply: I just noticed the WireFly video was pulled, you're probably right about the 28th not happening.

Thanks for all the info. Where did you read about the 4gig inboard memory? If that's true, that will be my next phone.

Beeray

Revolution seems a better option. 12gb more built in flash, dedicated video chip, hdmi, IPS display and Netflix.

Due to the way carriers and OEMs are teaming up to lock devices down more, the root advantage is not as prevalent for HTC.

Besides the 4" size that may be a better fit for some, Inc 2 seems like a lot less features for the money. Netflix is a biggie for me and the Rev has it. Folks thinking devices with Blockbuster bloatware will ever get Netflix are going to be let down. Only other option would be if HTC pays Netflix to allow the Inc 2 to be an approved device for Netflix servers.

Some folks could care less about video streaming apps, so no harm no foul.

there is no internal evidence to state that this phone will not release on the 28th. Again there is no date change. all is still set for the 28th until further notice. (i checked today)

i'm aware of the issues. I've been swapping between my DroidX and Bold 9650 for a while when i go out of the country. It used to be really nice until VZW got rid of the unlimited international data plans. I only use it now for email and thats it. I definitely don't use it for voice.

Watch out for data too! By not even using the Android device, you can rack up hundreds in data charges and you are at the mercy of the country and service that is being used. Best to turn the radios off and use only as needed ;) That will avoid this: :(
