Has he ever posted its specs anywhere & why still call it incredible HD (seems more appropriate now to use Mecha/codename/whatever it will likely be called)?

Need to see specs & release date asap otherwise its EVO time very soon..

I don't understand why there is so much "cloak and dagger" about this phone. There hasn't been much buzz about this phone on the internet since Nov. 11th!

Its how verizon is with their phones anymore keep them under wraps until a few days before and then announce it. I wish they would just say when it is going to be released rather then nothing at all. Atleast then people wouldnt be anxiously waiting just to get all excited for nothing.

A bigger screen with the same resolution as the Incredible will look horrible...

gotta agree with this. tried an evo for 30 days and the resolution really bugged me. the sense clock is HUGE and so are all the icons. I guess they really didn't LOOK bad, just big. lol.

also better hope it at least is an amoled cause the evo really does look bad at angles.

Then you would hold off on buying the phones they have now

Yeah but either way you are going to buy a phone whether you are going to wait another month or so before the new phones come out. I can hold out either way it just would make more sense to announce something that way if people are potentially considering changing from another carrier they wont buy a phone from that carrier. And yes you get 30 days to return it but not everyone wants to go through all of the hassle of completely cancelling service after just signing up for it.

If this Thunderbolt/Mecha has the same resolution as the Incredible, I would consider the "LTE Nexus S running TouchWiz" that BlackmanX mentioned. At least the Sammy phone would be S-AMOLED. I wonder what the clock speeds are going to be on the Thunderbolt and the Samsung.

Rule #1. Never change providers just for a phone.
Rule #2. See rule #1.

you can do anything with an open source phone that has no limits ^_^

and yeah i've seen it done on my friends G2, along with changing pixel density...or something. lol

How and where do I find out how to do this?

Haven't done it yet personally but read about it at:

LCDDensity Fakes a Higher Resolution on Your Rooted Android Phone

LCDDensity for Root - Android app on AppBrain

Appears to just compress display items, not magically increase display's physical pixel density.

I'd like to see a side by side comparison video of its use vs. a higher native resolution but should make some root users happy:). Side by side pics below:

I will give it a try and see if I like it, I don't like the idea of shrinking everything though.
