They drop 5 friends, but they add friends and family which is more then 5 numbers. The 10 is just for the other line which is why its more for the same minutes. Now having to have 2 data plans for a family plan is where they along with the rest screw you.

I understand adding the $10/month fee for the administration and whatnot of having someone else using your minutes. BUT, aside from that fee, if you look at the plans, there are less minutes for more money when you jump to the family plan. We're talking just voice here.
Check the V website\Plans
As an individual, I can get 900 minutes for $60. Plus "Pick five" feature.
Now jump to Family Plans:
You get 700 minutes for $70 AND lose any "Friends and "Family" feature.
So, you add $10/month, lose 200 minutes, pay another $10 more for those minutes and LOSE the "Pick Five"
So far, the sales pitch sucks! Am I missing something? Almost cheaper to just get a second separate individual plan.

I'm not sure about others here, but as time goes by and I continue to do research and watch videos on the Nexus 1, the more I find myself leaning towards that device. Obviously I think both the Incredible and N1 will be fantastic products. I just find myself gravitating away from the Sense UI. It's obviously personal preference, but I am seemingly coming away with the thought that the stock 2.1 just seems cleaner. Are there certain features that Sense adds that I might be missing that makes it worthwhile aside from the friendstream?

better keyboard is a big one on my list but you can always root the n1 and it looks really easy to do then put on a diff rom to get what you want

I can completely understand that.

One is a known product...the other is still somewhat unknown. One has a track record already, while the other doesn't. We know what the features and specifics are of one...while the other is nothing but rumors and speculation at this point.

That is going to be a matter of preference.

Personally, the Sense UI is what gravitates me more towards the Incredible. What gravitates me away from the Incredible, though, are the red back, only 256 MB RAM, and the fact that nothing is known for certain! Who knows when (or if) it will be released, what the final product will look like, what it will have for specs, or what it will even be called!!!

Totally agree, Sense UI is a major reason I am waiting for the Incredible.

What are the chances it bricks your phone? I see a lot of success stories on the forums but not too many brick stories.

And please forgive my ignorance - but you can also disable Sense, correct? Meaning...I get an Incredible, but would rather have stock 2.1 after playing with Sense, I could have the option of turning it off?

Hey guys, I've been debating the question for weeks now and still haven't decided which way to go. Love the Sense UI, but I think I'm fine giving it up for a more powerful device. I realize that Sense adds beautiful graphics and some really nice looking widgets, but does it have 100% of the functionality of the N1? I really want all the voice activated features, and just wanted to make sure the Incredible didn't lose out on anything.

Droid Eris users can, so i don't see why not. I'm almost 100% sure you can.

I've been wondering about the voice activated features myself. I really want those as well! Does the Sense UI keep those? That's part of why I can see myself going without a physical keyboard b/c of the voice features.

Being the owner of an N1 I can honestly say I love the phone, had no issues purchasing directly. Unfortunately, I will be moving to the Verizon network when these phones finally release. Releasing the N1 on TMO network was a HUGE mistake!
Not withstanding the 3G issues (no worry for me on TMO, I am stuck with EDGE), I would be concerned if those engineering issues with N1 have been resolved.
Incrediable if the specs are as good, but I would have no problem with an N1 on the Big Red either. Currently the N1 is the best Android phone on the market.

What's also going to be a determining factor for a lot of us is how Google approaches the ability to upgrade. Although traditionally Verizon customers are eligible for an upgrade and a $100 discount annually, if Google implements a comparable pricing plan as they have for T-Mobile customers, not only will this segment not get a $100 discount on the phone sold directly from Google, they will not even be eligible for the $279 existing customer price. Directly from Android.com:

Not eligible for Nexus One upgrade pricing:
  • Customers with FlexPay, SmartAccess, FamilyTime, government or business accounts are not eligible
  • Customers on a 2 year contract qualify for a partial discount after 11 months; however this partial upgrade eligibility is not applicable to the Nexus One
Eligible for Nexus One upgrade pricing:
  • Customers with individual lines of service who purchased a discounted device with a 1-year contract are eligible after 11 months
  • Customers with individual lines of service who purchased a discounted device with a 2-year contract are eligible after 22 months
I would guess that those eligible for the New Every Two program would lose out on their discounts, but be able to pay the $279 discounted rate. Someone like me that is only 18 months into a 2 year contract and otherwise eligible for an early upgrade would still have to pay the full $529 for the N1.

I would benefit since I would be a new Verizon customer. Now would I ever pay full retail like I did with TMO? NO it's foolish and a waste of money. Phone isn't worth that kinda of cash. IMHO your much better off with a carrier subsidized handset for support and cost savings. Little distinquishes one Android model from the other. One of biggest peeves for the N1 is placement of the mic. The slightest skew of the phone results in people not being able to hear you. It is really annoying.

Whoa, the discounted price is $279? I've never paid that much for a phone before. What was the Droid selling for when that was released?

If they follow the same pricing strategy that they have currently for new T-mo customers and you would be a new Verizon customer, the price is $179

Hmm, I'm a current Verizon customer, just completely out of contract. So you actually have to switch carriers to get that deal?

I don't understand why things are kept so secret. Wouldn't you want people talking about upcoming products and releases? The secrecy around these phones is just odd.

I'm all over the map with this one. I was all about Nexus one for months and now I read the damn incredible thread and that extra app memory has me leaning that way plus possible hardware probs on N1 have me worried. I work outside and don't like the idea of a trackball on the N1 even if I won't have to use it NEARLY as much as the one on my BB Curve that constantly gets gunked up.

Anybody changing their mind with more recent speculative info???

I've been swaying as well, but at this point I'm all but sold on the Incredible for a few reasons.

Price
Optical Trackball
Hardware concerns
Support.

I really have a giant fear of the trackball causes problems since I now carry my phone in my pocket a lot. I used to use a holster for my Curve since I didn't like it feeling like it was always about to fall about of my dress pants at work. But with my new job I wear jeans so I have it in my pocket and it seems like the trackball has been acting funny ever since. So that really has me worried with the N1. I'm going to give both phones a few weeks to see how things pan out around here before buying, but I'm about 90% decided at this point.

I have also been wanting the Nexus One for Months. I'm currently on AT&T with a 3GS. I almost pulled the trigger on getting the AT&T Nexus One but $529 is a lot to pay for a phone and my wife hates AT&T. I think the only reason why I would get the Verizon Nexus One is because that phone will get all the updates as soon as they come out. But the Incredible's specs are pretty impressive. As of now I think I'm getting Incredible.

I was 100% sold on the Nexus One for verizon for my next phone since I have a blackberry now and hate it but the more I read im not so sure anymore. I have to read up on the sense UI, i realize the keyboard is better but I was planning on rooting the N1 when i got it anyway to get the better keyboard. I like the tech support in stores but also love the fast updates on the nexus one since I know that verizon is very slow at updates. I have my wife on my family plan but the account is under my name. The more i read about the speculations on the N1, i might not be able to upgrade to the N1 since i dont have a individual plan anyway. I hate the look of the incredible but if the specs hold up to be the same as the N1 but with a few improvements i may have to go that route. Just hope the dates hold up

I'm so torn on this. When the Moto Droid and the Droid Eris first came out I headed to the Verizon store to check them out. I immediately fell in love with the Sense UI on the Eris, and was kind of "meh" about the stock OS on the Droid. Unfortunately, I also love having the latest OS updates. So I need to figure out what is more important to me:

1. Sense UI (HTC Incredible)
2. Latest OS (Nexus One)

I think I might be leaning towards the Incredible due to the latest rumored specs, but ARG. I just don't know. I really wish I knew someone with an N1 so I could try it out!

I'm not a big fan of the look of the Incredible either, but I figure I can just get a phone case to fix that!

110% on the Incredible, sounds like its going to a beast running. Dont like the track ball on the n1 (have a blackberry) so i know how they are when just a little dirt gets in them. But with a 8 MP camera, sounds like more memory then the n1, same speed 1 ghz, can drive 20 minutes to the Verizon store for support then sending my phone away and waiting for it to come back, and Sense UI 2.1 its a no brainier.
Oh and I kinda like the look of the Incredible so thats not a negative for me on it.

Ill be happy to wait a week or two after the n1 releases for the Incredible, because after both are out I'm sure there will be post saying "I wish I waited and got the Incredible, blah, blah." :D
