Incredible signal strength vs LG flip phone

Friend has an LG flip phone; don't know the model, but it's a few years old and nothing special.

Using ##33284, the signal strength on my Incredible is usually in the mid -80's (I've never seen better than 79). Placing his phone right next to mine in my house, he was getting -66dbm.

Any ideas? Maybe the LG, as a dedicated phone (with a short, stubby external antenna) is just that much better at pulling in a signal.

Any comparisons you all have between signal strength of Incredible vs other phones in the exact same spot?

How's your call quality? My signal strength jumps from -75dBm to -88dBm moving the phone 1 foot. I have not dropped any calls and everyone I've talked to sounds clear as do I to them. It has to be a software issue.

Call quality seems OK. What I've heard people say is a software issue is the number of signal bars being displayed. The signal strength (in dbm) should not be a software issue (it is what it is).
