Incredible to Droid X

I received a call from HTC customer support as I was heading into my office this morning. In a nutshell, all he had to say was sorry for the problems you’ve been experiencing with poor voice quality on the Incredible and that HTC is aware of the issue and working on a fix. But of course, there was no firm date for when that “fix” would be available. Best he could state was, “…within the next few weeks”.So basically it’s the same story we’ve been hearing ever since the Incredible was released.

My wife and I went into the Verizon store on Saturday (a mistake) with the intent of seeing if we could switch both of our phones for the Droid X. While waiting, we had a few minutes to play with the X and discovered that browser download speed was extremely slow when compared side-by-side with the Incredible. In general, the UI is much slower on the X.

So it looks like we’ll wait a little longer with hopes that the “fix” shows up sooner than later (and actually works!) or that the Samsung Fascinate is finally released on VZW and provides an acceptable device AND phone experience.

We’re really fed up with the way Verizon AND HTC have handled this and wish we could switch to another carrier without it costing us $700.
CRAP!

regarding DI call quality, the speaker phone and bt thru stereo worked amazingly well. is the audio issue only for in-ear calls? i didnt really see an issue with the DI call quality. but, i have the DX now (traded DI for DX with wife last night) and havent tried bt calling thru stereo. will post back once i get a comparo.

Just FYI, with Launcher Pro (which very closely mimics some of the good parts of Sense UI) and I'm now using the Dolphin web browser, my X is the same speed as a friend's Incredible, give or take (and I mean that: homescreen scrolling is smoother on my X, swipe to unlock is smoother on the Inc - there are differences on both sides).

I would be very leery of judging any phone entirely based on a demo model in a store; you're always going to be at the whim of the various people who have played with it prior to you getting there. Might be able to factory reset it if they'll let you (or if you can get away with it).

Sorry you seem to be getting the short end of the stick. You might be able to get some more action if you complain enough and talk to enough managers - I find that people tend to give you what you want if you just make it clear that the only way to get you out of their office/off their back is to treat you well.

I went from a Droid 1, to an incredible and the call quality was real bad it sounded like crap, so VZ sent me another and it was the same, not to mention the second one kept resetting like every 10 minutes. So I switched to the X. I only had the HTC for about a week.

Just keep plugging away at them guys. I did, and am getting the X. Not for free of course but for fair price and a new one year contract.

Im looking forward to getting the X, hopefully it will be here next week.

I switched from the Incredible to the X and honestly, the X has worse signal somehow in my area. Up to a 10db difference favoring the Inc.

Also; download speeds are capped at 5 mb/s on my wifi (when it works) compared to my Incredible which easily and consistently managed 15+ mb/s

I still do love the screen size on the X though, which is the primary reason I went with it.

I own both. I never had any call quality issues with the Inc. Although the Inc showed less bars, both the X and the Inc are very close in reception. There was never a time that either one was more or less than 1-2dBm apart.

I did find that the Inc had louder notification volume and speakerphone. Both phones were neck and neck in the call volume area. Set to the max volume, both phones were loud and clear.
