Help Incredible won't recognize computer

I've looked through similar threads like this, but my problem is somewhat in reverse. My phone won't recognize that its being plugged into a computer as opposed to the wall outlet. I say this because it doesn't give me the usb sign in the notification bar and i have tried choosing mount to drive in the menu and it still didn't work. Can anyone help me out?

btw: I use a mac, 10.6, and i had to download the doubletwist app to sync my music. i don't know if this may be part of the issue or not, but thats what i've been using.

On your phone go to Settings/Connect to PC. What is "Default connection type" is set to? Should be "Disk Drive"

Also if "Ask me" is checked on that screen you will need to select "Disc drive" manually each time phone is connected.

If it is set to "Disc Drive" and you still can't see it I suggest you try the same cable +Phone on a different computer, preferably PC. PC doesn't need any extra software to see this phone as a storage (I don't know anything about Mac). If PC can see it then this is an issue with your Mac.

I have all that set to disk drive, and to ask me whenever its connected, it used to work on this computer until very recently. The Mac is brand new so i highly doubt theres anything wrong with it, though that could be the problem. does anyone know if doubletwist is having issues/or is there a better app to use for those of us syncing with a mac?

I don't assume it's a hardware problem with your Mac, probably just software. But in any case you need to eliminate all other possibilities so connecting to another computer would be beneficial.

Sometimes connecting to another USB port causes hardware to be re-initialized, so this is also worth trying.
