Help Incredible's in-call volume

Looks like this issue is due to the "Hearing aids" option under "Settings->Call" that was enabled by default on my unit (doesn't mean it's an HTC factory setting, just one that Verizon enables). When it's enabled, it seems to override the in-call volume button completely in order to reliquish control to a hearing aid (I'm guessing here). Once I disabled this, I was able to change the in-call volume level, with the loudest option being more than sufficient.
thats whats confusing.. you disabled it to get better volume but it says "enabling HAC will give better in-call volume".. seems it performs just the opposite?

If I check it.. its even worse with less volume?

The Hearing aid setting seems to set the maximum volume to whatever the last volume was set to when enabled.
So, enable HAC and set the volume to max, then disable HAC and set the volume to the max. The volume will now be reset back to full volume.
[By the same token, you can set the maximum volume to be lower using the same technique if yours is too loud.]
I still wish mine would get louder, but it is now as loud as it was after a factory reset.

Its been quite a while since i've posted.. still have my DINC!

I have since upgraded to the latest OS "4.08.605.5"
and I still have the same issue.

When HAC is enabled, volume "drops" not raises!
I have max volume when the HAC is not enabled.. maybe 50% louder... same as always.

I don't understand if someone says its louder with it enabled as mine is the opposite.

When enabling it, it seems to imply that enabling it will make things louder, but thats not the case on my phone.

I have done a total factory reset after the last OS upgrade too.....

I don't know.. but my volume is "acceptable" but by no means great.. when there is a lot of background noise in the room I can't hear unless I go to speakerphone mode, but then the other party also gets all the background noise so thats not a good solution.

I can hear fine "not deaf" so thats not an issue either.

I was having the issue with high in call volume and adjusting didn't help. Even on the lowest setting I was getting distortion. Here is how I resolved it:

1. Settings > Call > Hearing aids (check box to turn option "On")
2. Reboot device.
3. Settings > Call > Hearing aids (uncheck to turn option "Off")
4. Reboot device.

Once the device rebooted with Hearing aids off again, I made a couple test calls and noticed the in call volume set to low was significantly lower then before.

So far so good. I will circle back to this thread if something changes.

Seems to have worked great!....
Louder in call volume available and crystal clear. Good discovery!

I have searched all over my HTC Incredible S and I can't find the hearing aid option as I have issues with low volume..

Thank you

Are you going here as decribed in the instructions above?
1. Settings > Call > Hearing aids

You do start by going to "menu".... then settings.....

I wonder if this issue will get resolved with future versions of Android?

Has anyone figured out if this is an issue with "sense" (HTC software overlay over the top of the android OS) or is its the OS itself?

I'm currently running Android V 2.34 and I had to follow the above suggestion to get proper in call volume.. and the incredible has Sense.

It's not an android problem, as not every android phone has the problem. It's up to the phone manufacturer on how loud to let the phone speaker be.
