Root infrastructure mode with wifi tether?

Hello,
I tried searching for this, but didn't find anything. When using wifi tether I am not able to use infrastructure mode. However, I noticed that with foxfi you can use infrastructure mode, but it has a limit on download. Has anyone been able to use wifi tether with wpa encryption?
thanks.

i just use the built in usb tethering..

and for wifi, well...there's like 20 hotspots around my house and i have a BT5 live Cd, so...no worries there either

Yup
Wifi tether for root users
Device profile generic ics/jb (wlan0)
Set up method auto.
I haven't tried anything else but this works for me so why mess around?

This seems to work, I was able to connect to my phone. I am at work but I will test the connection to the internet later. Thanks! <3

Sorry to necro, but this is exactly the info I have been searching for. Which version of wifi tether are you guys using? I have tried several, none of which give me that option for a device profile.

EDIT: Alright, to answer my own question, it appears I was not using a new enough version. I just installed the latest version (3.4-experimental1) and now it is working in infrastructure (AP) mode! Thanks guys!

Not sure how far back they made that change, previously I had tried some of the recommended versions (3.1 beta 11 and 3.1 beta 14) neither of which had the device profile option for "generic ics/jb (wlan0)"

Now, off to finish setting up OpenVPN on my DD-WRT router at the office, soon I will be enjoying unfettered road warrior access to the LAN and internet beyond without any Metro blocking or having to use user agent switchers! :)
