infuse a good phone or not

I happen to agree with Consumer Reports. CR rated the Infuse the #1 phone for AT&T customers.

I love it. Its fast, but iy mite freez on u. U must use the Ram manager and task manager to insure smooth navigating. The screen pops. It has features many phones to date don't have. If I could change one thing it would be the need for dual core but the screen, I can't settle for less, best phone screen to date. People complain about touch wiz being plane, but it doesn't come loaded with crap that can't be removed. Its simple, straight forward. Can't wait for gingerbread

Hi Egidio :-)

Good to know. I just got mine today after having to return 3 Captivates. You better be right or... I'll ban you from Mzine. ;-)

I personally have nothing against the Infuse. I like everything about it, especially the fact that I can customize the phone to my liking. With my previous iPhone, no matter what I could do, it just looked like a generic device -- the same for everyone. I could change the wallpaper, it's true, but that is as far as what Apple would allow users to do (without jailbreaking). With the infuse, I can easily go beyond the wallpaper customization.

What does everyone like and not like about the phone

just bought this phone 2 days ago and -

So far, the good:
large screen, voice to text and voice search is awesome, picture quality on the camera and video are second to none. (IMO) movies and music videos are very nice looking. (there are more but i am limited in time today)

So far the bad: speaker on rear could be a tad louder, when using a pair of ear buds for phone conversations the volume of your caller drops significantly. cell phone reception is very low. (my iphone 3g always had a high signal strength) any pics that are sent to you by way of text messaging are saved "automatically" as a movie player. aka-slide show. is there is anything that you want to change on this phone most of it has to be done by way of downloading an app. (again, iphone wins here, no apps needed for any real phones changes) power on and off button is on the side-for left handed people you can hold the phone in your left hand, and reach around with your pointing finger and power off but the palm off your hand hits the volume up and down button. deleting text messages-there are about 3-4 buttons you have to click on to get to the check and delete function. (iphone has it all on the same screen) there are a few more small issues but again my time is limited. (at work LOL)

I am not hating on this phone, not at all. But coming over from a iphone where you were pretty much pampered and didnt have to do too much. Here you have to do a bit more to do in order to get the basics. (maybe its just me)

there is a slight learning curve that comes with the change.

i.e....long press menu's like for those text message...just press on one to be given the option to delete one rather than batch delete through the menu options...

over time you will learn it's much simpler and much more capable.

oh, and check out hancent messaging app from the market. I don't experience the "slideshow" picture issue, that may be why

Call quality on mine's better than the land line at home. Phone gets warm after about 10 minutes or so on the phone, but I had that same issue with the Samsung I had before this one.

edit: and I'm sorry it's for the bad: I am living in the same house, same job, I am taking the same road to work as I have done for many years. Signal quality on this phone is just bad. maybe 2-3 bars. I work in the same office in the same building as i did when I had my iphone. Again, poor cell phone reception. What is this due to? I have no clue. Just being honest. Only thing I can say is with my old cheap iphone 3g it had a better antena signal strength. Friday night I traveled from philly to Jersey and back. Along the roads quite a few of my text messages failed to go through. It flat out failed. And I had to resend a few times. I am traveling AGAIN, the same roads I have done with my iphone 3g. There is zero difference in my driving patterns. This phone just flat out failed for me. (AT&T service with iphone and now Infuse)

I know for many folks this phone serves you well. So to that I say cheers. I am glad you are maiking the best of it. But, for me so far the bad is far out weighing the good.

I am seriously hooked though on the voice to text messaging. That is an awesome feature. Also the voice search feature is 100% worth the phone alone for those two features. But as far as reception, and signal strength. I give this phone a flat out 4 out of 10 score. I am also 47 years old and have had many phones in the last 15-20 or so years. I have driven for most of my life. So I am not a newbie to the world of mobile communications. I may have to try another android run cell phone just to give the whole new world of android a fare shot. I believe that's the best I can do for now.

Hope this helps someone. I know reading all of your posts has made me appreciate this forum that much more. SO thank you to all of you for helping out.

you might give att a call ....I have seen more than one post about similar issues that had something to do with service not being transferred from the previous iphone plan to the new smartphone plans...

it may be a simple fix on their end!

hope it all works out for you!!!
