Just did the manual update and I'm impressed with it so far. Here are a few highlights that I like.
Quadrant Standard that I use for benchmarking my N1 was getting 527 (higher than what it was for the average N1). With 2.2, that has jumped to 1291! I was noticing 20+ fps boost on the planet 3D test.
My benchmark for Linpack has gone from 7 to anywhere from 33 to 39.
Overall performance is much faster. I noticed when I went to my Applications area it was almost instantaneous unlike before where it displayed computing on the apps. There is also a sort of built in task manager and the option to view the apps on the computer memory and the SD card.
The main menu now shows both the bottom and top of apps as they scroll by.
As far as Flash, it is just as quick as the rest of the boosts. I had some problems interacting with certain areas due to the small size, but flash videos loaded extremely quick. Watched a little Strongbad and was impressed. Going to try games later.
The YouTube widget seems to have been updated to show highlights that you can pick.
Don't have a data plan yet (but might soon with the USB tethering) with TMo doing $2 per MB or $30 unlimited. Setting up the Hotspot with very easy. Data Enabled option in mobile networks. Good if you don't want to accidentally use data which with TMo's setup might happen if a app tries to get information.
Twitter now built in, but I don't use it.
Moving between home screens does that little bounce thing that the main menu does when you scroll. Still a bit laggy, but I keep a lot of widgets running and live wallpaper.
Looks like some new voice settings.
Google widget has been updated.
All in all, I think this is the "official" version 2 of Android. The performance gains, Flash, tethering/hotspot, and other additions make this feel like what 2.0 was supposed to be.
