My initial thoughts (I've not really tested properly because it's still charging):
The screen is beautiful, like unbelievably beautiful, I can't get over how amazingly amazing it is. I'm going to have to take some new pics with this camera as the pics taken with the DHD just don't cut it when used as wall paper, you can see everything. I was sort of worried about the size, but it's the same width as my DHD in her otterbox, just a little taller. It doesn't feel uncomfortable in the pocket at all. I would liked it to have felt a little less plasticy, but it's still very well put together and feels like an expensive bit of kit. I tried the One S in the shop this morning and the X feels miles better.
The camera is fast, although as I'm still charging, I can't really test properly. I've a 3 year old and one of my main beefs with the camera on the DHD was it took so long to open the app, focus and take the pic, that by the time I'd got to take the pic, he'd stopped doing whatever I thought was cool. This won't happen with this handset.
I can take or leave Sense. I don't love it, but at the same time, I don't hate it with the venom that some people appear to. It's easily the nicest of the manufacturer overlays, but I still prefer vanilla. However, with the combination of 4 cores and a minimalistic approach, I think that's going to change. The UI is amazingly slick and very intuitive. Something I've always been impressed with when I've used Sense ROMs in the past is the contact management/linking. Sense has always been very good at recognising that names which don't always match exactly are the same person. I found AOSP ROMs cannot always tell the difference between Andy and Andrew so I'd end up having to link a load of contacts manually after a gmail/FB sync. I had to do it for about 3 contacts this time. It even managed to tell the difference between my mum and dad who sorta, kinda have the same name - Jan (Polish) and Jan (short for Janice). My only beef with Sense is that it's green, even if you change the theme, highlights, word suggestions etc are still green, blue is where the cool guys are.
I'm also not a fan of the fact that the battery is displayed as a bar, not as a percentage. I've got battery minder installed for that, but I'd like to not have to use a 3rd party app for it. It's not a HTC thing though, more of an Android thing in general.
On the whole though, very, very impressed so far and glad I waited for this over the G-Nexus!
How is everyone else finding it so far?
