Insistent sign in to network pop up

Reading some of your other responses, Tracker Control would let you know exactly what connections are being made, and allow you to block them individually.

It also can tell you approximately (which countries) your info is being in contact with.

It is not real difficult to use, but it can take a bit to be able to use your device efficiently again, especially if you block too much- which is very tempting to do, because you now have that option.

It is quite simple to make a device fairly non-functional untill you unblock exactly what is required to work, or give up and turn the whole thing off, lol.

Anyway, you can also use the built in ad-blocker, and it is the same ad-blocker as is used on NetGuard.

But NoRoot gives immediate results, with very little setting up- and is extremely simple.

There is also a log.

The log is behind a paywall on NetGuard.

NoRoot is the one I have decided to try, your post made my mind up! Thanks for the help.

Hi, I too have an Le 2 and I was facing the same problem. I solved it. I already have this phone rooted. I simply uninstalled this system app from a program called Titanium Backup.
As far as I know, it's a captive portal. Captive portals are ones you may have used while accessing public wifi, in railways, airports and metros. Remember how you have to type in your details like railway ticket or something and you get access to wifi. This is Le 2 captive portal using Tencent Server. It runs using an inbuilt app named Captive Portal. This app is hidden and can only be seen via Titanium Backup( root required). I uninstalled it. No problems so far.

I saw an app called captive portal with the same icon as appears with the popup (like a wifi sign).
I have no idea if I can do anything to it without rooting my phone, as you said, but I did wonder if that was connected.

I checked, and the app I saw was called "Captive Portal sign in" but as you say the app we need to remove is hidden, so it is probably no connection. I force stopped it anyway just in case, and probably coincidentally, I haven't had the pop up since.

I wouldn't have a clue how to root a phone, but when I get a replacement I might just try and learn on this one!

You can simply block the captive portal app on the device with a firewall- no root is required.

Thats useful, I was wondering if I might actually need the captive portal sign in app for other sites so its good to know its there to try out if needed.

I am seeing what my phone is doing from the firewall logs - busy things aren't they? I haven't the faintest idea what most inbuilt apps are, Agnes Service for instance? Its all a mystery to me

After installing the firewall I am even more confused. After blocking and reallowing things I didnt know, I have come to the conclusion that it is not even appearing in the firewall logs.

If it is my phone pinging out to this server, I suppose I can't block it that way. If there is a way to stop my phone contacting the server in the first place, that might do it. Is this a possibility, or am I still misunderstanding?

It has slowed down a lot, only about every couple of hours now, so I could live with it until I can afford a new one I suppose!

Did anyone else totally get rid of it on a non rooted phone?

You can do a search of any IP from the firewall logs.

That will tell you what each IP is.

Tedious?
YES.

Have you tried using a VPN?
It may help, and it certainly will boost security anyway.

It will slow your online experience down a small amount, but you could try it and see what happens.

You are very helpful, thanks.

The fact that I only half understand phone stuff doesnt help, (probably nowhere near half actually) but I am getting there slowly.

I will give using a VPN a go, I always meant to - I think the only reason my id hasnt been stolen is that I have such terrible credit, nobody wants it lol.

Can you tell me which services you've blocked through noroot firewall? My LeEco is having the same issue and I am unable to find the exact service launching this.

Hi,
Unfortunately I haven't been able to stop it either. I don't think it actually appears in the firewall logs. My thoughts are that it is our phones contacting China and getting no reply, so a firewall wouldn't stop it?? I am living with it at present as it now only happens a few times a day rather than every few minutes, so although its irritating I can deal with it until I get a new one.

If you find a fix, please post it!!

Have you enabled developers options?
If not, then do so.
Inside there is a way to see all running apps.
Check these and make note of what is normally running.
The next time you get the issue, go to developers options and check the running apps.
When you see the oddball that wasn't usually there, that is possibly the culprit.

Hi again puppykickr, I am hoping you may be onto something with the developer options suggestion.
I just had the popup appear so I checked it out, but I couldn't see anything out of place in the running ap
I just did that (I remembered how from my last phone) Im sort of looking forward to it happening again so I can check it out!

I thought I had it, but it looks like my phone objected! I waited for it to appear, checked running processes but couldn't see anything out if place as far as I could tell. I had a look at cached processes and found the following:

They came out in the wrong order lol! I stopped it anyway, and returned to what I was doing, all pleased with myself, but it didn't last long. I got a flurry of 3 popups, and when I checked it had reopened itself! I closed it again, and I will reboot this time and see if it takes.

Thanks to puppykickr suggesting developer options, I think I have traced the culprit, but I can't find a way to properly switch it off.

In cached processes, I switch captive portal login off, and reboot, but it just switches itself back on.

Does anyone have any suggestions of settings somewhere that would stop this app from restarting itself?

This is becoming personal!

Good night, I'm from Brazil. I found this forum because I have this problem on my LeecoCool 1 cell phone.

Has anyone managed to solve this?

Hello,
I am also a LeTV LeEco Le 2 user, from few days whenever i am connecting to my wifi this popup comes @mikedt posted the ss, so what i did is i opened the default browser of LeTV then cleared all data from it and removed all permissions from it. After that whenever i am connecting to my wifi this is not coming anymore.
