Inspire stolen :(

Hi guys...my Inspire was stolen tonight. I am sooo bummed. Does anyone know where to get a good deal off contract on a new Inspire?

Or...is anyone selling their old iphone 3gs or 4 for a decent amount?

have you tried using htcsense.com it has a phone tracking system that can let you know where your phone is. it's still in beta and a little buggy but it might work, and could give you a chance at getting your phone back.

and so far one of the better deals for an off contract Inspire is on amazonwireless.com
 
That's assuming he registered with HTC sense and device finder is enabled.

I did try the tracking, but the place we were at had no service so it wouldn't locate. I ended up just erasing everything. We are going to call today when they open to see if anyone turned it in, but I doubt they did.

Does anyone know if you can add a line to the family plan and take off the data plan on the old phone?
 
You can add a line to get a new inspire at the 2yr contract price and to remove the data plan I think they need a non smart phone IMEI # to put in their system otherwise it will see that line as having a smart phone and needing a data plan.
so you might need to find a cheapie phone like a razr or whatever doesnt require a data plan, but call att or visit a corporate store and see what they say first. Cause im not 100% sure on that

We went to AT&T today and they added a "ghost line" to our family plan and let me buy the Inspire for $99. The ghost line is just $9.99 extra per month and no data needed. We ended up switching to the 550 minutes per month and saved $10 a month so it evened out. The guy at AT&T was great!

They didn't need and IMEI from another phone :)
 
Glad everything worked out for you! My phone was stolen yesterday. Did you have insurance on your phone? I called the warranty/insurance number att gave me and they are shipping me a new htc for $125.00. I thought that was a little pricey since I pay monthly insurance for the phone. Now I am wondering if I should call my local store and see if there is a better deal.

I hate people who steal!!

That $125 is the deductible on the insurance plan. If you went the ghost line route it would be $100 for the new inspire plus $10/month for 2yrs.

So with the ins right now it cost you less, are you getting ins on the replacement phone?

I am going to keep the insurance on the replacement phone and they assured me I was getting a new phone, not a refurb. Insurance was something i was happy to be able to get again when I switched back to an android phone from the iphone. I love the inspire - what a great phone!

My husband went thru squaretrade for his iphone ins since att didnt offer it. Was $100 for 2yrs. Good thing we got it too, first time he took it out the otterbox it slipped and well you can guess the rest.
If I didnt get a new phone as often as I do I would def get some ins, but since I do I always have a decent backup phone if there is an issue
 
Good to know it worked out for you guys. Are these things really getting stolen or are they just been misplaced? Obviously, any phone carelessly handled can be taken. I certainly will be careful with mine when I get my replacement. My 3 week old inspire refused to charges. So, I have sent it back to costco for a replacement.

Mine was stolen. When I called att to ask them to shut it down and to transfer me to the insurance department, the rep told me the inspire is one of the most stolen phones.
