Install Any App on Kindle Fire

Just thought I would write this up. Here is how to install almost any app on you kindle fire.

1.Go to more, settings, Device. Make sure allow install from unknown sources is on.

2. Navigate to 4shared.com.

3. Search whatever app you want.

4. Download it.

5. When it is done, click on the downloaded file in the pull down bar.

6. Click Install.

That's it! This will work with any .apk file on your device. If you want, download the file on your computer, and put it in a folder on your kindle. Get ES File explorer, navigate to the file, click on it, and then click install.

!Notice! I will not be responsible if you do anything illegal. This is perfectly legal for free apps. Don't be dumb !Notice!

f*ckin A! I just installed Opera Mini (the fastest Android browser I know of). I couldn't deal with this slow-ass Silk anymore.

This is a great way to get non Amazon Apps. However, I will only download Apps I am already familiar with from this site.
 
If you have another Android device and want to use the same apps on the Kindle Fire you can use ES File Explorer and create a backup of the app on your other Android device. Then you can just move that backup .apk to your Kindle and use ES File Explorer on Kindle to "load" your app by tapping the .apk file. Your Kindle Fire settings need to be changed to allow installation of apps from other sources - it is in the settings menu. As long as the app does not use a feature the Kindle Fire does not have, such as a microphone, GPS, etc., it should load and run fine. You don't have to root your KF to do this.

Good post. An alternative is to email yourself an apk file and use easy install which IS available on Amazon.
 
I haven't had to use an installer yet and I've sideloaded 16 different apps. I've downloaded apps directly to the fire, I've brought them over from my pc via usb, and I've emailed them to myself - never once have I found the need to use an installer.

welcome. thats a good idea. the precaution i have taken. if i havent heard of it i will never get it. never had a hiccup
 
I have a few questions...

You don't have to be rooted to install apps right? All I do is check mark authroize apps in settings and then just put the apk on my kindle and install? Or do I have to email it to my kindle email? Do all apps from android market work?

If you don't need root access for 3rd party apps why cant google apps be installed? I guess I'm confused on why anyone should root a kindle right now? Since its so new? What are the advantages of a rooted kindle?

Last question, is there any way to save that Amazon prime thing if you do root? I have that fee month trial right now.

You are right in infering that there is no real reason to root right now, unless you want to have the google market directly on your kindle or if you want to delete any stock software. If you root there is an app on the android market that let's you temporarily unroot so you can view your amazon prime videos. I have netflix. Their free streaming selection is better Imo so I'm not so miffed about that.

nope. no root needed, and yes, just put in on ur kindle or just download it directly from you kindle. if you can find the app it will almost always work

You need to root because you have to access the very root of the decive to copy the core android files. the other advantages of rooting are that eventually you will be able to install roms, which are 3rd party versions of android which are very cusomizable.

not that i know of. just root after you have use up that free month.. sorry but just use netflix. only 8$ a month and a lot better shows

To add to this, use dropbox and share the newly backed up apk and never need to use a usb connection to sideload again.

Coming in handy lately for me, especially with the 10 days of 10 premium apps a day for $.10 in the aneroid market.

Will Astro backup work?

I have a few games for my son on my Evo4 that I'd like to put on the Fire.
 
Do a search on the App Store for Wifi File Explorer Pro and put that on your Fire. Using that on my EVO and do not have to use my USB connection to move files from my computer to my EVO. I've been thinking about getting a KF and if I do that will be my first app on it.
 
BTW, you can install and some use apps requiring a microphone. By plugging in a headset/microphone combo, you can install an audio recorder and successfully use it. I bought a little "button" mic intended for an ipod and it worked fine on the Fire.

So far it's known to work for audio recording apps (I've also used a guitar tuned app). No one I know has been able to successfully use Google voice search or Skype yet.
