Help Install apk file???

Hi all,

New to all this, so can someone please give me some advice please? Can I install apk files on my s2 so can install games etc on it. I was told to put the file on the sd card and get app installer or astro file manager to install it, but can't seem to find the files once on the phone?
Do I need to do anything else to make this work or am I doing something wrong?

Silly question but are you looking in the right place as it should work.

If on your micro sd card remember you gave to select external sd when looking at folders otherwise you are looking at phone memory.

Usually stock file browser can be used to install apk. Just click on the apk from My files .
Astro file manager was used in the earlier versions .Now a days apk can be installed from all file managers .

You should also have menu>settings>applications>unknown sources enabled. Be aware that if you got these .apk files from questionable sources they could include malicious code or could be illegally distributed paid games which is tantamount to stealing from the developer.
