Root Install iOS on Droid ERIS?

Nope. No one has installed iOS on anything but an iPhone (AFAIK). Unlike Android, iOS is closed source so there is no way for anyone to port it to other phones.

It would probably run horrible on an Eris anyway, due to lack of hardware acceleration, which is how iOS is so smooth.

how would other phones android roms run on the eris(or eris roms on other phones)?

in other words, what is it about a particular rom that makes it phone specific?

Well, there's a couple of things I can think of:

1. The UI like Sense, MotoBlur, TouchWiz, etc. are things that the manufacturers include that are not open-source that are presumably highly phone-specific.

2. Then there are the things like screen-size and pixel density that I know a few ROM developers have cited as a stumbling block to easily porting one phone's ROM to another (i.e., there are specific references and dependencies that the software makes of these settings that would make the display (and probably) behavior not very palatable (or functional).

Also, you can't just take a ROM from one manufacturer's phone and plop it on a different one--there are obviously CPU differences between them that would make this an epic-fail.

I'm sure there's more that actual ROM developers have encountered and could cite (or correct what I said above, lol ;)).

Cheers!
