install new OS?

iamoraal

Newbie
I just bought an LG Optimus One P500h running Android 2.2.1. I have successfully unlocked it and can make/receive calls, but no data. Contacted my provider (Bell) who said I would have to install a new OS. Is there a How-To sticky somewhere on this board?

Thanks.
Irvin.

Your provider said you would need to install a new OS in order to get a data plan? That doesn't make sense at all.

No. I already have a data plan. Just can't get it connected. I've entered the VPN settings for a similar LG phone on Bell but it still won't connect.

You mean APN settings? Are these the values the carrier provided or something you looked up?

Have you asked your service provider to send you the settings? I don't understand why your service provider asked for a complete os reinstall!

Issue is resolved. Even though I checked my APN settings twice, he caught a typo [an extra space] in one of the addresses. Works fine now. Think maybe I need to get better bi-focals.

Thanks to all who responded!
