Install Pure Android to Galaxy 2

Dear All,

I have Galaxy Note 2. But I dont like the OS. I would like to have HTC os or Pure android os as Google Provide. Does anyone knows how to do clean installation of android to Note2?
I try to install themes but its not good.

regards
Lasantha

Hi

You need to root your phone to do that. Suggest you read the rooting forums.

I find that changing the launcher goes a long way to making it better. Try Holo Launcher HD or Nova.

If you really want that, you'd have to root and find an AOSP ROM like CM10 or AOKP. I don't think those are too well developed at the moment. Plus, AFAIK running one of those will lose all S-Pen features of the phone.

people are going to probably hate me for saying this but I actually like touchwiz. I used the GNex for a whole year and while stock android is nice, my belief is that Google intended to give people a bare OS and then if you need added features, just install a 3rd party app. Touchwiz actually includes a lot of neat features not found in stock android and it runs smooth as butter.

I'm surprised how much I'm liking TouchWiz. I usually prefer to get as close to AOSP as I can, but I think Samsung really went above and beyond with this latest version, especially with the S-Pen integration.

I really like Touchwiz too. I used to have a Desire and got bored of Sense real quick and ended up using Go Launcher, but so far I haven't had any need to install a 3rd party launcher on my Note 2.

I'm just returning to Android after quite some time away.

I'm curious, say I stay with Touchwiz, is it possible to change the icons and such? If so, can anyone recommend an app for that? I'd like to find a way to theme Touchwiz, but I have yet to really delve far into that.

Otherwise, I think Touchwiz is pretty nice all things considered.

People, for some reason, don't like Touch Wiz. I don't know why. I guess it's just different tastes. I find it just fine. :D I've tried other launchers, but this does the job well, IMO.

I'm also liking Touchwiz after seeing so much negativity about it. I see all the roms over at XDA, and while a lot of them have have some cool features, I see nothing worth the bugs and losing the built-in functions like multiwindow for.

The only things I dislike about Touchwiz are the keyboard, launcher and lockscreen, all of which were replaced without root (SwiftKey 3, Nova and WidgetLocker respectively). I like the TW camera app, the SPen, the phone dialer, and even the mail app (zero problems with Activesync). I've never been compelled to replace the SMS app either.

I know it's popular to talk about going stock Android, but there are some parts of TW that are quite functional that wouldn't want to lose.

I moved to samsung galaxy note 2 from iPhone. I dislike few things on Android
1. I cant install emoticons Keyboard as iOS.
2. iOS email client is much better than android.

I prefer Sense UI over TW. I'm sure I'm biased since I've been using it for a while. But I didn't think I had this hard a time getting used to TW. Sense on the other hand was more intuitive, it took me less than a day to figure things out.
